The weather certainly added to our magical week, and we loved playing in the snow!

We also celebrated two key dates in our academic calendar, ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’ and ‘International Woman’s Day’. To mark Fairtrade Fortnight, we began by discussing the concept of fair, and how everyone, regardless of their gender or nationality, should be treated equally. We then learnt that we can identify fairtrade produce using the special symbol and using fairtrade sugar, we created our very own lemonade.

For International Woman’s Day, on Wednesday, we started by reflecting on the important women in our life. It was wonderful to see women of all ages being identified, old and young, and for a vast number of reasons. Later that day, we focused on a famous, influential female artist, Frida Kahol and her incredible self-portraits. We reflected on her work, connecting back to our previous topic on portraits, and our current topic on animals, to create our very own work inspired by Frida.

This week, the children have worked hard to complete assessments to showcase their learning so far this year. Our school value Hope was certainly achieved by all as they tried their best and were determined to complete their assessments to the best of their ability.

In Science, we continued with our focus on plants, building on on prior knowledge of flower plants and exploring trees. We started by identifying the two types of tress; evergreen and deciduous before exploring the different functions of the tree.
