Year 2 - Autumn 2 - Week 1

We have started this term with a very busy but fantastic week!

Our week began with a look at our new Collective Worship monthly value of peace. We took the time to think about what peace looks like and times when we feel at peace. In Religion, we looked at how news is spread and how good news was spread for God. We then researched different artistic styles of angels, chose our favourite and then created our own.

In Maths, we continued our topic of addition and subtraction. We looked at ‘subtracting a one-digit from a two-digit number’ as well as ‘subtracting a two-digit number from a two-digit number’. Whilst we found this challenging, it was really fun to delve into and try our absolute best! We also did some team maths where we had a friendly competition of ‘Hit the Button’ and ‘Spell the Number’.

In Science, we started to investigate and identify materials and their uses. We put on our thinking hats to discuss how each material has various uses.

There is no doubt that this week has been a busy one, as we filmed our Kindness Week Video. From gelled hair to 90s plaits, our hairstyles brought the 90s theme to life as we sang, danced and raved throughout the week to some classic 90s songs. We can’t wait to see our amazing efforts be brought to the big screen next week when our video premiers.

• PE days will remain the same on a Monday and Wednesday.
• Don’t forget to bring reading folders in on a Thursday every week.
• Please note that children may bring a small, healthy snack, such as fruit or a cereal bar, to eat at playtime. Please note that fruit or vegetable snacks are provided each day in school.
