What a creative week we have had in year 2.

In Maths, we have started our new topic on 2D and 3D shape. The children have recapped on shape names and learnt about vertices and sides. We have introduced the words regular and irregular and talked about how shapes may not look regular but are still classed as a certain shape. Next week we will be working on symmetry of shapes and looking at the properties of different 3D shapes.

In English, we continued working on The Great Fire of London. This week we have researched facts about the fire service and compared it to the equipment and resources that were available in 1666.

In Design and Technology, we have created our own chairs for a bear. The children were shown different ways to make the seat and attach the legs and they then added their own details and ensured that it was strong enough to hold a bear. The class worked well and were able to bring their own creativity to their chairs.

In Science, we have continued working on the topic of materials. This week we tested out different materials to see if they would be waterproof and be strong enough to withstand the Big Bad Wolf trying to blow the house down.
