Year 3 - Autumn 1 - Week 2
Date: 11th Sep 2025 @ 10:00am
We have had a fantastic start to the term in Year 3!
In Maths, we’ve been learning all about place value. We’ve been looking closely at numbers up to 100 and even up to 1000! We’ve used different representations like base ten blocks, number lines, and place value charts to help us understand how numbers are made and how we can partition them into hundreds, tens and ones.
In English, we’ve started reading our focus book Seal Surfer. Before we began reading, we used clues from the cover and blurb to predict what the story might be about. We even wrote our own story openings! We’ve also been learning about prepositions and how they help us describe where something is in our writing – like “above,” “under,” and “next to”.
In Geography, we’ve been exploring Europe! We used atlases to help us find different countries and learn where they are on the map. We enjoyed discovering new places and seeing how countries are connected.
In RE, we’ve been talking about 'prophets'. We ahve discussed who they are, what they do, and why they are so important. We learned that prophets are special people who spread God’s word and help guide others to live good and kind lives. We discusse the values prophets may hold such as honesty, courage, kindness, patience, and faith. We discussed how prophets help people stay connected to their faith and how their messages still inspire people today.
In Science, we’ve started learning about nutrition and the different food groups. We talked about why each group is important for our bodies, and how to keep a balanced diet to stay healthy.
In Art, we’ve been practising our shading skills using pencils. We experimented with light and dark tones to make our drawings more realistic. It’s been fun trying out different pencil techniques!
In PE, we’ve started our gymnastics topic. We’ve been practising different shapes like tucks, straddles, and pikes and learning how to hold them with control and balance.
What an exciting start we’ve had , we can’t wait to see what the rest of the term brings!
