What a brilliant week we have had in Year 3. The children have really shown the value of 'Hope', where they have really tried there best and not given up!

In English, we've been getting creative with words! We’ve been exploring different vocabulary and how to use it in the right context. We learned how to look up new words in dictionaries and used them to improve our writing. One of the highlights of the week was writing riddles about sea creatures! We worked on using verbs and prepositions in our riddles, making them more exciting and detailed. Finally, we’ve been learning how to correctly use inverted commas for speech in our writing.

In Maths, we’ve continued to explore place value. We’ve been using place value charts and manipulatives, like counters and 100’s, 10’s and 1’s to help us understand how numbers change when we add or subtract 1, 10, or 100. This week, we practiced finding numbers that are 1, 10, and 100 more or less than a given number.

In RE, we’ve been reading the story of Moses. We discussed his role as a prophet, how he was feeling during key moments in the story, and what he did to help the people of Israel. We thought about how Moses trusted in God’s plan and how he helped lead the people through difficult times.

In PE, we’ve been practicing different types of jumps in gymnastics. We learned about how to control our bodies and land safely after a jump.

In Geography, we’ve been researching different European countries. We discovered some fascinating facts about the countries' cultures, landmarks, and traditions. It’s been so fun discovering what makes each country unique, and we’re excited to explore even more about the world in the coming weeks!

In Science, we’ve been exploring the bones in the human body. We learned about their structure and functions, such as how bones protect our organs and help us move. We also looked at the different types of bones in our body, like the long bones in our arms and legs, and the small bones in our fingers and ears. We even got to try some fun activities to learn the names of the bones!
