Year 3 - Autumn 2 - Week 5
Date: 4th Dec 2025 @ 4:23pm

In RE, we reflected on the meaning of Emmanuel, which means 'God with us'. We talked about why Christmas is such an important time for Christians and how it reminds us of hope, joy, and togetherness.
This week in English we have been busy planning our very own fantasy stories. First, we created detailed character descriptions for our main heroes and villains. Then we practiced writing setting descriptions, imagining magical forests, mysterious caves, and enchanted castles. We’ve been working hard to use similes, adjectives, and prepositions to make our writing more exciting. Finally, we planned out our storylines, ready to bring our adventures to life!
In Maths, we have been practicing multiplying and dividing by 3. We used number patterns, games, and challenges to help us remember our facts. Everyone is becoming much more confident with their 3 times tables!
Our History lessons took us back in time to Skara Brae, a Stone Age village in Scotland. We explored how the artefacts found there, like tools, furniture, and jewellery, help us understand what life was like thousands of years ago. It was amazing to think about how people lived without the things we use every day.
In Design and Technology, we got creative in the kitchen! We made our own seasonal vegetable tarts. After baking, we tasted them and wrote evaluations about the flavours and textures. Some were delicious, and some had very “interesting” combinations, but we all had fun being chefs!
We also enjoyed our outdoor learning sessions. Using natural materials, we built houses and gardens for fantasy characters such as fairies. It was wonderful to see our imaginations come to life outside, combining creativity with teamwork.
We loved watching the Rock Steady concerts, where our friends performed in their own bands. It was inspiring to see them play instruments and sing with so much confidence. We clapped, cheered, and danced along!
One of the highlights of the week was the Santa Dash. In groups, we raced around the school following clues to find hidden elves. It was full of laughter, teamwork, and festive excitement!
