Year 3 - Autumn 2 - Week 7
Date: 16th Dec 2025 @ 3:44pm

In RE, our topic this half term has been ‘God is with us’. We explored how God is with everyone in different ways and read the story of ‘Papa Panov’, which helped us think deeply about kindness and the true meaning of the Christmas story.
In Maths we’ve been working hard on multiplication, especially our 3 and 4 times tables. We practised multiplying and dividing, and explored the ideas of sharing and grouping. Everyone has made great progress and grown in confidence with these skills.
Our focus text in English was ‘Winter’s Child’. We used it to inspire our writing, learning how to create vivid setting and character descriptions. We experimented with subordinate clauses, similes, and powerful adjectives to enhance our work. The highlight was writing our very own fantasy stories, full of imagination and creativity!
We travelled back in time to the Stone Age in History. We discovered how people lived, the tools they used, the cave art they created, and how farming began. We also learned about Skara Brae, a fascinating Stone Age settlement that gave us a glimpse into life thousands of years ago.
Our Science lessons focused on forces, with a special look at magnets. We carried out investigations to see how magnets attract and repel, and explored their everyday uses.
In Design and Technology, we combined creativity with cooking by designing and making our own seasonal vegetable tarts. It was a delicious way to end the term, and everyone enjoyed tasting their creations!
We’ve loved spending time outside, practising our teamwork skills and learning how to work together effectively. These sessions have been a great chance to build friendships and resilience.
This term has been full of festive cheer! We joined in the Santa Dash, took part in the Christmas Extravaganza, and enjoyed lots of seasonal activities. A real highlight was watching the Rock Steady concerts, where we were inspired by the music and performances.
Year 3 should be very proud of everything they’ve achieved. We’re looking forward to more fun and learning in the new year.
A huge thank you to everyone for the lovely cards, thoughtful gifts, and warm Christmas wishes, they are truly appreciated.
