What a wonderful week we have had in Year 4!

Our week began with Collective Worship, where we explored the importance of working together as a team. We focused on the Christian value of service, reflecting on the phrase "there is no I in team" and learning how the Bible encourages us to work collaboratively as a community and to encourage others.

To celebrate Black History Month, we listened to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech. His words helped us think about fairness, kindness, and how we can make the world a better place. After hearing his dream, we shared our own dreams for the future — imagining a world where everyone feels safe, happy, and included.

During English lessons, we revisited apostrophes. The focus was on apostrophes for possession, especially the rule about where to place the apostrophe when the word is a plural.

Maths learning involved comparing and ordering 4-digit numbers, helping us to strengthen our understanding of place value. Towards the end of the week, we moved on to Roman numerals—an exciting new challenge that also connects to our history work.

A highlight of the week came when the National Trust visited to teach us about local animals and their habitats. We were fascinated by the natterjack toads at Formby Beach, which quickly became a class favourite!

PE was all about fitness testing. We worked across six different areas, recorded our results, and set personal targets. Next week, we will retest to see if we can beat our personal bests, while continuing to think about how to develop our fitness.

We also want to say a big thank you to Year 5 for leading such a thoughtful Harvest service. They reminded us of the importance of gratitude and of sharing what we have with others, especially those who may be in need.

Thank you, Year 4, for another week of hard work and enthusiasm. We hope everyone has a restful weekend!
