We’ve had a fantastic first term in Year 4!

This week, Collective Worship focused on generosity, inspired by the story of The Rainbow Fish. We discussed how sharing and kindness can make a difference and reflected on how we can be generous in our own lives.

In RE, we explored the values that help us follow in Jesus’ footsteps. We identified qualities such as kindness, honesty, and compassion—not only those that shine outwardly, but also those we carry quietly within ourselves. The children reflected thoughtfully on how these values guide their actions and relationships.

Maths lessons continued with column addition, focusing on place value and carrying digits correctly. We’ve also started tackling a times table each week through games and songs, helping to build fluency and confidence. The children also took part in the Sumdog competition, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork.

In English, we completed our Author Books, using a tent canopy to illustrate diary entries. We also reviewed grammar skills, including capital letters for proper nouns and coordinating conjunctions.

Friday was full of fun! We celebrated Alder Hey Pyjama Day wearing our pyjamas to school and enjoyed a performance of Sleeping Beauty to get us into the pantomime spirit. We also completed our Computing Day, learning important lessons about online safety and how to stay safe online.

Wishing you all a safe and restful October holiday!
