Welcome to the Year 5 blog for the academic year 2025–2026.

It has been a pleasure to welcome the children back into school and begin to explore the exciting new topics that Year 5 has enjoy.

Please see our Curriculum Map for an overview of what the children will be learning this half term.

Our Virtual Classroom can also be found attached. It includes links to a variety of quality websites, apps, and resources to support the children’s learning.

The Successful Start PowerPoint is also attached. This contains important information that all parents should read.

Reminders for this half term:

  • PE days are Thursdays and Fridays. Please ensure that children are wearing the correct PE kits, according to our policy.
  • Clarinet lessons will be every Monday afternoon. Children will need to bring in their instrument on this day. Please help to support your child in practising at home.
  • Homework will be set through Mirodo each Friday. Tasks should be completed by the following Wednesday. (Log in letters to be sent home this week.) Please see Mrs Houghton if there are any issues.
  • Spellings will be put onto Google Classrooms each Friday, with a test the following Friday. Please support your child in learning these at home.
  • Year 5 will be delivering the Harvest service in church on Friday 3rd October at 9.15. We hope that parents and carers can join us with this celebration.
  • Children are asked to bring a healthy snack for break time, if they wish. This should be fruit, yoghurt, dried fruit and other healthy snacks.
