In English, the children took on the role of reporters and interviewed our main character, as she arrived to take on her challenge of going down Niagara Falls in a barrel. We used to information to create newspaper reports, with fronted adverbials being our main focus.

In Maths, we continued our work on place value of numbers up to 1000,000. We have partitioned the numbers in different ways and placed them on various number lines. Finally, we have compared and ordered these numbers, using mathematical symbols.

In RE, we debated the question, 'Do you need a Bible to be a Christian?' Staff were very impressed with the children's ideas and reasoning.

We have been continuing to practice for our Harvest service and had a very succesful rehearsal in church on Thursday morning. We can't wait for you to see it!

Congratulations to the group of Year 5 children who participated in the rugby tournment on Friday. Lots of fun was had by all and the children were proud to represent our school. Thank you to our parents for supporting with lifts to Southport Rugby Club.

Finally, Year 5 were absolutely fantastic during our outdoor learning session this week. We were very busy collecting conkers, filling containers with compost, weeding the learning area and finishing the digging pit. A big thank you to the children who kindly brought in seeds and bulbs for us to plant. We are very grateful for any donations to help support us in this area.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Team Year 5
