Year 5- Autumn 2- Week 4
Date: 27th Nov 2025 @ 9:39pm
Another wonderful week of learning in the Year 5 classroom!
In English, we’ve been diving deeper into the character of the witch from The Lost Happy Endings. After reading the next part of the story, the children wrote letters from Jub’s perspective, describing her experiences in detail. We were so impressed with their use of carefully chosen vocabulary and techniques to create atmosphere—it really brought their writing to life!
In Maths, the children have worked incredibly hard to complete their maths booklets. Their determination and effort have been outstanding, and it’s clear how much progress they’ve already made in Year 5. We are so proud of them!
In RE, we explored our own Christmas traditions and then researched how Christmas is celebrated around the world. It was fascinating to learn about the similarities and differences in customs across different countries.
In Science, we investigated solubility by testing which materials dissolve in water. The children made predictions, carried out careful observations, and discussed how particles behave when combined. We even considered how the process can be reversed—lots of great scientific thinking!
In Art, we had so much fun creating Christmas animal portraits, which will be displayed at the upcoming Extravaganza. We can’t wait for you to see them—they’re full of creativity and festive cheer!
Finally, Wednesday marked our first swimming lesson, and it was a huge success! The children showed what they could do, and many demonstrated incredible courage and determination. We’re excited for the weeks ahead.
