Year 6 - Autumn 2 - Week 2
Date: 11th Sep 2025 @ 5:28pm
We have had a great week in Year 6, full of learning and laughter!
In English, Year 6 wrote special letters to introduce themselves to their new Reception buddies. The children took great care with their writing, sharing fun facts about themselves and offering a warm welcome to school life. Once their letters were complete, the Year 6 pupils were able to deliver them in person and spend time with their buddies.
The children were delighted to have this opportunity, enjoying the chance to visit the Reception classroom, join in with play, and get to know their younger partners a little better. From building towers and sharing stories to exploring the role-play area together, it was wonderful to see the older pupils stepping into their roles as caring role models. These buddy partnerships are already forming lovely friendships, and we look forward to watching them grow throughout the year.
Year 6 have been stretching their maths brains with a series of place value puzzles and challenges. From partitioning numbers up to ten million to tackling tricky reasoning problems, the children showed great determination and focus. It was fantastic to see them applying their knowledge in different ways and enjoying the challenge of problem-solving too.
In our RE work, we started our unit titled ‘Life as a Journey’ where we mapped out our own life journeys so far including any highlights along the way. These were brilliant to see and we considered just how much more was still to come!
We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and comes back refreshed for another exciting week – enjoy!
