Year 2 - Autumn 1 - Week 7

How time has flown!

We have had another fabulous week in Year 2 and have ended the half term on a high!

In PE, we practised our underarm throws and catching skills. We then ended our lesson by completing four 4 laps of our mini marathon. We were wrecked by the end, but what a great achievement! We absolutely loved our visit from Unite, Formby for our Self-Defence session this week. It was incredible and taught us some basic self-defence skills including releases from ‘grabs’.

In Music, we continued our theme of ‘African Music’ and looked at ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’. We listened very carefully and described what instruments and voices we could hear.

In Maths, we continued our topic of ‘addition and subtraction’ as well as revising our number bonds to 10 and 100. We started the week by looking at ‘adding 2-digit numbers across a ten’. Then we began to look at ‘subtracting 2-digit numbers across a ten’. We found this challenging but really enjoyed learning new and exciting maths.

We created our very own ‘Online Safety Leaflet’ in Computing this week. We had a big discussion about how we use the internet and how we can stay safe online. We then used these fantastic ideas and tips to put into our very own leaflet.

We also loved having a boogie at the annual TSP Disco, with its spooky theme! The glow in the dark theme made it more exciting! We played musical statues, dancing to the ‘Monster Mash’ and even got to eat some spooky sweets at the end! It truly was an incredible event, thank you to all involved.

Year 2, you have been an absolute delight to teach this half term and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the term, and year, has in store for us. From all of us here in Year 2, have a wonderful and well-earned rest.
