Year 2 - Autumn 2 - Week 2
Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 1:27pm
Wow, what a fantastic week!
We started the week with a very active PE lesson with a little help from our Sports Ambassadors who lead a fun warm up. We swam like fish, danced like pirates whilst also practising our sending and receiving skills. We then had a friendly game of football rounders.
In History, we continued to explore The Great Fire of London. We learned all about how the fire started, where it started and who started it. This week, we were transported back to 1666 where we imagined we were Samuel Peyps. We wrote a diary entry informing us all about The Great Fire of London using quills and ink. We are going to be continuing this next week.
In Maths, we continued our topic of addition and subtraction. We looked at ‘subtracting a two-digit number from a two-digit number across a ten’. Whilst we found this challenging, it was really fun to delve into and try our absolute best! We also did some fun games like Around the World where our maths knowledge was put to the test.
In Science, we continued our topic of ‘Materials’ and had the opportunity to look at and feel looks of different materials such as velvet, polystyrene and silk. We used our critical thinking to look back at last week and think about what these materials could be used for. We then worked in teams to come up with lots of different adjectives to describe them.
We connected our Collective Worship value of Peace with Remembrance Day this week, as we created our own poppy wreath. We then discussed how the poppy is a sign of remembrance and why we honour Remembrance Day. We then observed a two-minute silence to pay our respect and remember those who died in the war.
Year 2 have had a brilliant, hard-working week! Have a lovely, relaxing weekend and we will see you all on Monday.
