Another brilliant week in Year 2!

We started the week with an active PE lesson where we practised our control with tennis rackets and balls. We had to weave in and out of cones (and some of our friends) whilst making sure we kept control of our ball at all times. We also had to have beady eyes to find our partners and return the ball back to them before the time was up! We had great fun with this challenge.

In RE, we connected our understanding of what good news is and used our critical thinking to link this to the birth of Jesus. We thought about why the news was important, how it was important as well as looking at what the story taught us and how it makes a difference in our lives.

In Maths, we continue to look at addition and subtraction with 2-digit numbers. We are challenging ourselves to harder equations and working more independently.

Our historical knowledge continued to widen this week as we delved deeper into the Tudor life and examined the houses that they would have lived in during the Great Fire of London. We discussed the features of a Tudor house, what we could see and why they had these. We also discovered that they used daub (a mixture of clay and animal dung) to help plaster the walls. How smelly!

In Science, we continued to look at materials and their properties. This week, we worked as a team to sort out objects and materials to put them into the correct bins.

We are thoroughly enjoying our Guided Reading lessons. This week we looked at Rosa Parks and built on our knowledge from Year 1. We used our retrieval and inference skills to locate the answers to questions and then our writing skills to write a sentence using excellent grammar and spelling by using our phonic skills.

Have a lovely weekend, Year 2!
