It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We arrived to school on the 1st December to find our classroom full of festive decorations and a cheeky little elf zip lining into our classroom.  With a few clues spotted around our room, the elf revealed his name was Buddy. Christmas joy filled the room when we uncovered a note from Buddy informing us that he had left the North Pole and is visiting our classroom for Christmas. He also delivered a very special Christmas book for us to read! Buddy told us that he would love to be a part of the Year 2 team and will be on his best behaviour.

Our festivities really took off, with a trip to the Christmas Extravaganza on Friday. We loved taking part in the various activities, spending time with our friends and singing along to our favourite Christmas songs. A huge thank you Team TSP for organising such a fantastic event!

We started the week with a relaxing PE lesson where we had the challenge of holding various yoga poses. We became dolphins, seals, boats, jellyfish and even starfish! We then had a couple of minutes where we practised our deep breathing and gave our minds a moment to switch off.

In Maths, we started our new topic of ‘Geometry’ where we started to look at 2D and 3D shapes.  continue to look at addition and subtraction with 2-digit numbers. We are challenging ourselves to harder equations and working more independently.

In Science, we continued to look at materials and their properties. This week, we worked as a team to sort out objects and materials to put them into the correct bins.

We are thoroughly enjoying our Guided Reading lessons. This week we looked at Advent and Christingle and how important these events are to Christians. We looking at the meaning behind them and what each aspect represents. We used our retrieval and inference skills to locate the answers to questions and then our writing skills to write a sentence using excellent grammar and spelling by using our phonic skills.

Have a lovely weekend, Year 2!
