Clubhouse - Spring 2 - Week 4

Date: 18th Mar 2022 @ 11:09am

We can’t believe that it is the end of another week and what an exciting week we have had!

Continuing with our spring animal topic, the childen made some very colourful spring chicks. The children began by carefully painting some paper plates and then decorated the plates with googly eyes and a variety of colourful feathers. The end results were lovely and the children thoroughly enjoyed using their chicks to act out some imaginative stories. The children have picked up where they left off last week with their love for our ‘junk modelling’ area and a variety of models have been produced, we have had some robots, sharks, spaceships and even a Spongebob Squarepants mask.

As the weather was a bit miserable on Wednesday, we decided to go to the hall to play a game of dodgeball and burn off some energy. Some of the older children took the lead and delivered the instructions and rules of the game to the other children. The children showed great team work, communication skills and sportsmanship throughout and a great time was had by all. The rest of the week made up for the bad weather on Wednesday and we were able to make the most of our outdoor area – spring is definitely on it's way!

On Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day in clubhouse and had a ‘design you own red nose’ competition. The children put their creative hats on and had some very inventive ideas – it was far too hard to chose a winner so it was biscuits all round for everyone who took part.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

We have had yet another wonderful week in Clubhouse!

It is lovely to see the children coming into club and settling straight into a variety of activities. The older children are really beginning to take the lead and have enjoyed creating and guiding games for the other children. The smiles were infectious and club was filled with non-stop laughter.

The book corner has been a big hit, the children have loved snuggling into the sofa with a nice soft blanket and taking turns reading and acting out some fairy tales to see if the other children could guess which book they were reading.

Our mathematic skills came into good use on Wednesday, when a group of girls decided to become the teachers. We worked together as a group to work out the answers to the tricky questions which had been written on the whiteboards.

On the craft table this week, the children used a variety of materials and resources to create some beautiful collage pictures. The children also explored our ‘junk modelling’ box to see what creations they could make – we had some very imaginative pieces.

As always, we are hoping for warmer evenings but hopefully we don’t have to wait too long. We are still making the most of our outdoor area for now and hopefully in the weeks to come we can go onto the field.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, see you next week.

Wow, what a busy week we have had in clubhouse!

We began the week with pancake day, after a discussion about pancake day and how it represents the start of lent, the bake off began! Pancakes were flying all over the kitchen – and that was just from the staff! The children thoroughly enjoyed making the pancake mixture, cooking the pancakes and then choosing their favourite toppings. We had some lemon and sugar lovers, but most children seemed to chose the bananas and chocolate sauce, they were a big hit! Whilst some groups were cooking inside, we had some pancake races outside, practising our balancing skills to see whether we could keep the pancakes in the pans.

Towards the end of the week, we celebrated World Book Day. What a lovely sight to see such a variety of costumes and characters. Some children decided to create their own stories using the characters that we had in club and act it out – what creative thinkers we have at TSP. The children also got crafty and made their very own bookmarks to use when reading their favourite books at home.

The children constructed an array of models this week using our Lego, there was an extremely impressive layered house and some children even made their own marble maze. In teams, the children designed mazes for the other teams to complete before the timer ran out.

Unfortunately, the weather took a bit of a turn for the worse this week so we didn’t get outside as much as we would have liked, but we are hoping to venture out onto the field in the coming weeks once it dries up a bit.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, see you all next week.

It was lovely to welcome all of the children back into Clubhouse this week and hear all about their adventures over half term!

After a discussion with the children, we decided that we would focus on a ‘minibeast’ topic for a few weeks as spring is quickly approaching and more minibeasts are appearing. With our magnifying glasses at the ready, we decided to go on a minibeast hunt! The children thoroughly enjoyed discovering lots of different minibeasts in a variety of habitats and ticking them off our tick list. The children also got crafty, with some perseverance and incredible cutting skills they created an assortment of fantastic split pin minibeasts.

Another popular area in clubhouse this week was the construction area, the children took it in turns to be the architects, building suppliers and builders. With clear instructions from the architects, the building suppliers found the right pieces and gave them to the builders, who then assembled the models – what great teamwork!

As always, our role play area has been filled with joy and lots of giggles. The children decided to have a ready, steady, cook inspired mini competition to see who could create the best-looking plate of food – it was hard to decide who won as they all looked delicious!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

What a lovely week we have had for our final week before half term! We can’t believe it is half term already, the time has flown by.

As always, club has been full of happy, energetic children. The craft area has been very popular, with lots of children wanting to design and make valentine’s day cards and gifts for their loved ones. Some year 6’s also took the lead and helped the children to bake some heart shaped biscuits which were delicious! Mary Berry, you better watch out, TSP has some up and coming bakers!

Imaginations were in full forces this week as a group of children created their own short film using the iPads, they were extremely proud of their creations and couldn’t wait to show everyone the final results. The children then helped some of the younger children to write their own stories and turn them into short films, a great time was had by all!

Another popular activity this week was making cloud dough, although the process was a little bit messy at times, the final results were worth it. It created a silky, fluffy mixture which smelt amazing and the children enjoyed moulding it into different shapes and designs.

As always, outside has been extremely popular and the brighter nights are making such a difference, lets just hope the good weather stays for after half term.

Hope you all have a lovely week off and we look forward to seeing you soon.

What an enjoyable week we have had in Clubhouse! Where has the week gone?

The children were very excited to celebrate Chinese New Year this week, taste buds were tingling as we sampled some Chinese food for snack. The spring rolls were a crowd pleaser – especially amongst the staff. With great care and concentration, the children produced some wonderful Chinese lanterns and made some fantastic tiger puppets. The home corner was also very popular, imaginations were running wild as the children created their own Chinese restaurant. We even had some expert chop stick users!

We have been making the most of the brighter nights, the children have loved going outside after snack to burn off some extra energy. The children particularly enjoyed playground games, team games and a group of children even taught some of the staff a new dance routine.

Hope everyone has a very enjoyable weekend!

What a fun filled week we have had in Clubhouse!

Competative races took place between children and staff - who could hoola hoop longest, scooter races and many more!

Inside, we focused on being a good friend we talked about what makes beng a good friend whilst creating friendship bracelets. The children also enjoyed a wide selection of table top games. We pondered on puzzles and built brilliant towers out of straws.

We have some budding artists in Club House, the children followed instructions and drew their favourite cartoon characters. We also have some talented painters, the children created masterpeices using a variety of materials.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

What another busy week in Clubhouse!

Clubhouse have thoroughly enjoyed our dinosaur topic this week, imaginations have been running wild in our small world area and various dinosaur eggs have been created at our craft table - there were some fantastic cutting skills! Some children also made a fantastic train track, they were so pleased with the results after lots of perseverance.

Outside has still been a hit, the children have loved going outside for as long as possible - we are all looking forward to the brighter nights. The children have been making assault courses to complete on the scooters as quickly as possible. We definitely have some future scooting champions.

On Friday, the children got involved with a bit of karaoke – X factor here we come! A great time was had by all.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

What a difference lighter, dry nights make!

This week we have made the most of the dry evenings getting outside as early as possible for a blast of air and to burn off excess energy after a hard day in school.  Our new scooters have now been put together and everyone has loved making the most of the space, scooting around the playground.  It certainly warmed us, and we went back into Club with rosy, red cheeks, ready for snack.

Indoors, our snooker table is continuing to be a hit.  It is busy every day.  Skills are improving all the time. This week, a group set up and enjoyed their own mini tournament. It was played in good spirit and I'm sure will be repeated.

On the craft table the children chose to paint with water colours.  Possibly a little early, but the children opted to paint branches with delicate blossom - obviously some wishful thinking for the future warm weather ahead of us!  A small group set up their own band, they created their own special sounds entertaining the staff and Club members alike.  Others have enjoyed table top games – Cat and Mouse remaining a firm favourite, whilst the car area is proving as popular as ever.

As always the week has flown by!

Have a lovely weekend.

Happy New Year!  We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break.  Clubhouse staff would like to thank everyone for your Christmas gifts and well wishes.

This week the children have been settling back into school and the daily routines.  Everyone seems very pleased to be back amongst their friends.  They have shared their Christmas news; told us about the fantastic gifts Father Christmas kindly left them and excitedly recounted some of the wonderful days they have had.

On Wednesday, we were able to enjoy some quality time outside, playing on our new scooters.  Sadly, the weather took a nose dive for the rest of the week, however that didn't dampen the spirits and the children have enjoyed playing indoors, creating their own cafe/shop.  They reaquainted themselves with the snooker table and I'm please to say skills gained before Christmas haven't been lost.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
