Clubhouse - Summer 1 - Week 6

Date: 25th May 2022 @ 2:57pm

!Summer 1 - week 6.JPG

We have had a fun filled week we have had and we can’t believe that half term is here already!

On going with all of the Jubilee celebrations, the children wanted to make their own crowns in club, the children carefully selected a variety of sequins, glitter and stickers to create their fantastic jewelled crowns and the children were proud of their finished results. The children also continued to decorate bunting in red, white and blue to hang up in club ready for the jubilee celebrations on Friday.

Continuing with the Jubilee celebrations, the children asked to play some party games. We played some games with balloons and even dusted off our dancing shoes in preparation for a game of musical statues. The laughter and giggles filled the air and everyone had a great time.

The children have continued to enjoy going to play on the field this week. They were able to burn off some excess energy playing football and running around the field. The children also put their balancing skills to the test as they manoeuvred their way around the trim trail in record time – we are definitely improving.

On Friday after the excitement of TSP’s Got Talent, we had a picnic style snack to celebrate the Jubilee, the jam tarts were a big hit and everyone enjoyed making their own wraps.

We hope you all have a lovely half term and we are looking forward to seeing you all refreshed and ready for next term.

We have had another lovely week in Clubhouse!

The lovely weather has definitely helped our good moods this week and the children have loved spending their time outside in the fresh air. We have had football tournaments, created assault courses and played some group games. Some children decided to do a scavenger hunt, they searched high and low to find a variety of insects and enjoyed comparing their different habitats.

On Tuesday night, the children showed off their culinary skills and baked some shortbread. They paid great attention to detail and the older children had great communication skills when explaining the instructions. The final products were amazing and the children thoroughly enjoyed eating them after snack – what great teamwork!

The children are extremely excited about the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations and have asked if they can decorate club to celebrate. As a result of this, the craft table has been a hive of activity with the children designing bunting and decorations to hang up around club.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

We can’t believe we are at the end of another week in Clubhouse but what a fun filled week we have had!

We have had a very mathematical week, after a request for some sudoku puzzles, the puzzle bug was in the air. The children used their logical thinking and enjoyed the challenge. They then worked in groups to try and design some of their own puzzles for the other children.

In the craft area, the children have been getting creative in preparation for the TSP talent show. While some children designed their outfits, others created props and masks – we can’t wait until the final performances.

Outside has been popular again, the children particularly enjoyed using he drain pipes to create ramps for the toy cars to go down. We discussed how we could make the cars go faster and how we could make them go slower and after designing the ramps, the race commenced.

The mornings have been very relaxed in club as some of the Year 6’s prepared for their SATS. Well done to you all for completing them and you can look forward to all the exciting things you have planed for the rest of your year.

A quick reminder to please make sure that your children’s belongings are labelled as we have so many children who attend Clubhouse and we don’t want anything to go missing.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Clubhouse - Summer 1 - Week 3

Date: 5th May 2022 @ 2:11pm

!Sumer 1 - week 3.JPG

What a brilliant week we have had in Clubhouse!

Even though it has only been a short week, club has been packed with activities and the fun just has not stopped.

Following on from the children’s request for an ‘under the sea’ theme. The children decide to create some of their own rainbow fish using the TSP colours. The children used their prior knowledge to discuss what fish look like and thought about how we could create scales on the fish. After some discussions, the children decided to use celery sticks as paint brushes which created the illusion of the fish having scales – what a creative idea!

Inside, the children worked as a team to create a large train track. The children then used the stickle bricks to design different stations that the train could stop at. At times, it was a little fiddly to create the designs that they were imagining, but, the children showed great resilience and persevered until they were able to create their vision.

As always, outside has been extremely popular (with the help of the sunnier evenings). The children enjoyed playing a variety of playground games. They especially enjoyed using one of the large skipping ropes to skip with. They showed great jumping and coordination skills as they negotiated the skipping rope and worked well as a team ensuring that everyone got a turn.

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

!Summer 1 - week 2.JPG

The week has flown by and we can’t believe its Friday already!

As always, clubhouse has been extremely busy this week. It has been lovely seeing some new faces in club whilst parents attended class meetings and hopefully we will see you all again soon.

The role play area has been extremely popular, the reappearance of all the dressing up clothes has caused great excitement. The children just can’t get enough of transforming into different characters and showing off their imaginative designs on the catwalk.

Outside this week we got creative with the chalks, by using our shadows we created a variety of shapes to draw around. The children also decided that they wanted to play some playground games, so they took it in turns to think of a game and explain the rules to the other children who showed fantastic listening skills.

Inside, the fun continued and the craft table has been busy as usual. The children have used their imaginations and a variety of materials to create their own models and pictures.

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

What a fantastic first week back we have had!

The short week has definitely flown by but it was lovely to welcome all of the children back into Clubhouse. As always, we were greeted with lovely smiles, laughter and some very grown up children - there have definitely been some growth spurts over the Easter holidays.

Summer is on its way and the weather has finally been nice enough to venture over to the field. The children have thoroughly enjoyed making the most of their time outside and have loved every minute of it! Whilst on the field we played football, negotiated the activity equipment and cooled off under the shady wooded area whilst making daisy chains.

On Friday, we celebrated Earth Day. To do this we created a paper plate earth each, the children carefully considered their designs and chose some appropriate materials to create them. Some children even suggested using some recycled materials to create their earth which was a fantastic idea!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Clubhouse - Spring 2 - Week 6

Date: 1st Apr 2022 @ 10:32am

Easter has finally arrived in Clubhouse this week and what a busy week we have had!

We have had a variety of Easter activities in clubhouse this week and the fun has not stopped! Towards the beginning of the week the children enjoyed making some Easter nest cakes. The older children took the lead and showed great organisation skills. On Thursday, Clubhouse had their very own Easter Egg hunt. The race was on to collect as many straws as possible. The straws were then exchanged for mini eggs and some children were lucky enough to find the mini golden straws which were exchanged for big Easter eggs. The children showed great sportsmanship and had a lovely time helping each other to find the straws.

As always, the craft table has been a hive of chatter and excitement as the children created their own Easter crafts and cards. Some children used a variety of resources to design their own models and had great pleasure in painting them and adding the finishing touches.

Some children decided to carry out their very own science experiement on Wednesday night. They waned to discover which ball bounced the highest. After making some predictions, they carefully bounced the balls and measure how high they bounced and recorded their findings - what great scientists we have in TSP!

The colder weather has not stopped us this week and the children are still enjoying their time outside. The children helped to pant some plants and have taken great pride in making sure that they are watered daily -  let's hope they last the Easter holidays!

We hope you have a lovely Easter break and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon.

What a beautiful sunny week we have had in Clubhouse!

We have been loving the warm evenings and have spent most of our time outside, creating new games and making the most of the fresh air. Some older children relished in taking the lead and created an exciting basketball game that everyone enjoyed getting involved with. The children were gripped, as they worked together in teams to score the most baskets in as many ways as possible - the more inventive, the better!

Inside, there was a real buzz and enthusiasm for Easter, the children created and decorated some lovely Easter baskets and coloured in some beautiful pictures. After the excitement of the Mother’s Day concert, a lot of the younger children took to the craft table to make some presents for their loved ones for Mother’s Day. There were some extremely creative ideas, and we think the children’s loved ones are in for a treat!

It was lovely to see some old and new faces back in club on Wednesday evening during parents evening, we hope that they enjoyed their time and hopefully they will return to club soon.

See you all next week for our last week before Easter. Just a reminder that afterschool club is not available on Friday 1st April as school is finishing early for the Easter holidays.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and make the most of this weather.

We can’t believe that it is the end of another week and what an exciting week we have had!

Continuing with our spring animal topic, the childen made some very colourful spring chicks. The children began by carefully painting some paper plates and then decorated the plates with googly eyes and a variety of colourful feathers. The end results were lovely and the children thoroughly enjoyed using their chicks to act out some imaginative stories. The children have picked up where they left off last week with their love for our ‘junk modelling’ area and a variety of models have been produced, we have had some robots, sharks, spaceships and even a Spongebob Squarepants mask.

As the weather was a bit miserable on Wednesday, we decided to go to the hall to play a game of dodgeball and burn off some energy. Some of the older children took the lead and delivered the instructions and rules of the game to the other children. The children showed great team work, communication skills and sportsmanship throughout and a great time was had by all. The rest of the week made up for the bad weather on Wednesday and we were able to make the most of our outdoor area – spring is definitely on it's way!

On Friday, we celebrated Red Nose Day in clubhouse and had a ‘design you own red nose’ competition. The children put their creative hats on and had some very inventive ideas – it was far too hard to chose a winner so it was biscuits all round for everyone who took part.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

We have had yet another wonderful week in Clubhouse!

It is lovely to see the children coming into club and settling straight into a variety of activities. The older children are really beginning to take the lead and have enjoyed creating and guiding games for the other children. The smiles were infectious and club was filled with non-stop laughter.

The book corner has been a big hit, the children have loved snuggling into the sofa with a nice soft blanket and taking turns reading and acting out some fairy tales to see if the other children could guess which book they were reading.

Our mathematic skills came into good use on Wednesday, when a group of girls decided to become the teachers. We worked together as a group to work out the answers to the tricky questions which had been written on the whiteboards.

On the craft table this week, the children used a variety of materials and resources to create some beautiful collage pictures. The children also explored our ‘junk modelling’ box to see what creations they could make – we had some very imaginative pieces.

As always, we are hoping for warmer evenings but hopefully we don’t have to wait too long. We are still making the most of our outdoor area for now and hopefully in the weeks to come we can go onto the field.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend, see you next week.

Wow, what a busy week we have had in clubhouse!

We began the week with pancake day, after a discussion about pancake day and how it represents the start of lent, the bake off began! Pancakes were flying all over the kitchen – and that was just from the staff! The children thoroughly enjoyed making the pancake mixture, cooking the pancakes and then choosing their favourite toppings. We had some lemon and sugar lovers, but most children seemed to chose the bananas and chocolate sauce, they were a big hit! Whilst some groups were cooking inside, we had some pancake races outside, practising our balancing skills to see whether we could keep the pancakes in the pans.

Towards the end of the week, we celebrated World Book Day. What a lovely sight to see such a variety of costumes and characters. Some children decided to create their own stories using the characters that we had in club and act it out – what creative thinkers we have at TSP. The children also got crafty and made their very own bookmarks to use when reading their favourite books at home.

The children constructed an array of models this week using our Lego, there was an extremely impressive layered house and some children even made their own marble maze. In teams, the children designed mazes for the other teams to complete before the timer ran out.

Unfortunately, the weather took a bit of a turn for the worse this week so we didn’t get outside as much as we would have liked, but we are hoping to venture out onto the field in the coming weeks once it dries up a bit.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend, see you all next week.

It was lovely to welcome all of the children back into Clubhouse this week and hear all about their adventures over half term!

After a discussion with the children, we decided that we would focus on a ‘minibeast’ topic for a few weeks as spring is quickly approaching and more minibeasts are appearing. With our magnifying glasses at the ready, we decided to go on a minibeast hunt! The children thoroughly enjoyed discovering lots of different minibeasts in a variety of habitats and ticking them off our tick list. The children also got crafty, with some perseverance and incredible cutting skills they created an assortment of fantastic split pin minibeasts.

Another popular area in clubhouse this week was the construction area, the children took it in turns to be the architects, building suppliers and builders. With clear instructions from the architects, the building suppliers found the right pieces and gave them to the builders, who then assembled the models – what great teamwork!

As always, our role play area has been filled with joy and lots of giggles. The children decided to have a ready, steady, cook inspired mini competition to see who could create the best-looking plate of food – it was hard to decide who won as they all looked delicious!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

What a lovely week we have had for our final week before half term! We can’t believe it is half term already, the time has flown by.

As always, club has been full of happy, energetic children. The craft area has been very popular, with lots of children wanting to design and make valentine’s day cards and gifts for their loved ones. Some year 6’s also took the lead and helped the children to bake some heart shaped biscuits which were delicious! Mary Berry, you better watch out, TSP has some up and coming bakers!

Imaginations were in full forces this week as a group of children created their own short film using the iPads, they were extremely proud of their creations and couldn’t wait to show everyone the final results. The children then helped some of the younger children to write their own stories and turn them into short films, a great time was had by all!

Another popular activity this week was making cloud dough, although the process was a little bit messy at times, the final results were worth it. It created a silky, fluffy mixture which smelt amazing and the children enjoyed moulding it into different shapes and designs.

As always, outside has been extremely popular and the brighter nights are making such a difference, lets just hope the good weather stays for after half term.

Hope you all have a lovely week off and we look forward to seeing you soon.

What an enjoyable week we have had in Clubhouse! Where has the week gone?

The children were very excited to celebrate Chinese New Year this week, taste buds were tingling as we sampled some Chinese food for snack. The spring rolls were a crowd pleaser – especially amongst the staff. With great care and concentration, the children produced some wonderful Chinese lanterns and made some fantastic tiger puppets. The home corner was also very popular, imaginations were running wild as the children created their own Chinese restaurant. We even had some expert chop stick users!

We have been making the most of the brighter nights, the children have loved going outside after snack to burn off some extra energy. The children particularly enjoyed playground games, team games and a group of children even taught some of the staff a new dance routine.

Hope everyone has a very enjoyable weekend!

Inside, we focused on being a good friend we talked about what makes beng a good friend whilst creating friendship bracelets. The children also enjoyed a wide selection of table top games. We pondered on puzzles and built brilliant towers out of straws.

We have some budding artists in Club House, the children followed instructions and drew their favourite cartoon characters. We also have some talented painters, the children created masterpeices using a variety of materials.

Clubhouse have thoroughly enjoyed our dinosaur topic this week, imaginations have been running wild in our small world area and various dinosaur eggs have been created at our craft table - there were some fantastic cutting skills! Some children also made a fantastic train track, they were so pleased with the results after lots of perseverance.

Outside has still been a hit, the children have loved going outside for as long as possible - we are all looking forward to the brighter nights. The children have been making assault courses to complete on the scooters as quickly as possible. We definitely have some future scooting champions.

On Friday, the children got involved with a bit of karaoke – X factor here we come! A great time was had by all.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

What a difference lighter, dry nights make!

This week we have made the most of the dry evenings getting outside as early as possible for a blast of air and to burn off excess energy after a hard day in school.  Our new scooters have now been put together and everyone has loved making the most of the space, scooting around the playground.  It certainly warmed us, and we went back into Club with rosy, red cheeks, ready for snack.

Indoors, our snooker table is continuing to be a hit.  It is busy every day.  Skills are improving all the time. This week, a group set up and enjoyed their own mini tournament. It was played in good spirit and I'm sure will be repeated.

On the craft table the children chose to paint with water colours.  Possibly a little early, but the children opted to paint branches with delicate blossom - obviously some wishful thinking for the future warm weather ahead of us!  A small group set up their own band, they created their own special sounds entertaining the staff and Club members alike.  Others have enjoyed table top games – Cat and Mouse remaining a firm favourite, whilst the car area is proving as popular as ever.

As always the week has flown by!

Have a lovely weekend.

Happy New Year!  We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break.  Clubhouse staff would like to thank everyone for your Christmas gifts and well wishes.

This week the children have been settling back into school and the daily routines.  Everyone seems very pleased to be back amongst their friends.  They have shared their Christmas news; told us about the fantastic gifts Father Christmas kindly left them and excitedly recounted some of the wonderful days they have had.

On Wednesday, we were able to enjoy some quality time outside, playing on our new scooters.  Sadly, the weather took a nose dive for the rest of the week, however that didn't dampen the spirits and the children have enjoyed playing indoors, creating their own cafe/shop.  They reaquainted themselves with the snooker table and I'm please to say skills gained before Christmas haven't been lost.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
