What a wonderful week we have had. We are getting closer to the end of Year 1, and have loved getting prepared for Year 2 this week!
In Maths this week we continued our topic 'Money'. We focused on counting coins and notes. We enjoyed solving real life problems.
In RE we made links to world faiths by comparing Jesus' life to ours. We discussed how Jesus was Jewish and explored the practices he would have followed.
We were proud to take part in Sports Day on Wednesday! We absolutely loved having our grown ups there to cheer us on as we raced alongside each other. We had so much fun in the sun and loved showing off our skills!
Our highlight this week was getting to see our new Year 2 classroom ready for next year. We were very excited to test out the classroom and enjoyed asking questions about school life next year.

So much fun and games this week as we celebrated Sports Day!
To kick start the week, we considered how religions carry out their prayer. After identifying that prayer mats are used inside mosques, we considered what our prayer mat might look like using symbols and colours special to us.
We have continued to be inspired by the story ‘Blue John’ when writing and have loved delving into the four chapters we have read so far. We considered what we might see and hear if we were the child dancing in the cavern with Blue John and incorporated the use of similes to describe what our senses would experience. Later, we moved on to creating an explanation text to outline how Blue John was created using Geographical vocabulary associated with the aspects of a cave.
In Maths, we recognised the difference between quadrilaterals identifying what parallel lines and the name of 3D shapes. We focused on how many faces and edges 3D shapes have before moving on to look at interrupting pictograms.
We also enjoyed a visit to the Scholastic Book Fair this week and were delighted to find some fantastic reads to go back and purchase.
What a fantastic Sports Day full of laughter and smiles! Thank you to everyone who attended and made it a day to remember. We truly had the best time racing and the joy on our faces was clear to see.
Of course, another highlight was our return visit to Laurel’s Wood. We were delighted to return and learn more outdoor skills whilst putting those we learnt last time to good use. We were thrilled to be able to build different types of dens and even toast marshmallows on a fire!
Have a lovely weekend, Year 4!

Our production rehearsals have been going well. The children have been given specific roles now, although this is still only an early draft and additional lines will be added in as we continue to rehearse for those children who want larger roles. Parents, please ensure you have read the messages sent on School Spider regarding clothing and tickets.
We were treated to a very special assembly this week led by Sumdog! After all these years of playing and enjoying the app, it was fantastic to have the team in to share new features and projects they are working on. We particularly enjoyed Strawbees, which saw us constructing various shapes and mechanisms – while also working on our resilience and teamwork.
On Wednesday, we had our final ‘Sports Day’ at Trinity St. Peter’s. We wanted to have a strong emphasis on our value of ‘Enjoy’ and not take it too seriously. We agreed that if we were losing, we would ‘lose in style’ – just as long as it didn’t affect anybody else in the race who may still be trying to win. There was a great atmosphere throughout and we all had a great time taking part in the different races. Perhaps the highlight was our parents’ three-legged race. Lots of laughter…and lots of competitive parents! We were very impressed with those children who managed to complete the lap with neither of their feet ever setting foot on the grass!
We also enjoyed hearing the children’s stories about their transition days to their secondary schools on Thursday. Not long to go now!
Have a great weekend, everyone!

What a fabulous week we have had, enjoying the sunshine!
It was so lovely this week when we were able to welcome parents to school to watch the children’s sports day! Nursery enjoyed every minute demonstrating their running and jumping skills, we also enjoyed an ice lolly when we returned to class.
We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘o’. For Maths we have continued to explore number to 5, we have had to add numbers to five asking ‘How many altogether’ and also ordering numbers to five identifying when there was a number missing and what number this was!
The children who will be moving to Reception in September have begun their transition and spent time in the Reception with their new teacher Miss Dalley. They enjoyed exploring the classroom and spending time with their new teacher.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Wow! How we have managed to pack so much into just one school week really is quite incredible and we have an absolute abundance of highlights to share.
Our Maths lessons have involved calculating time intervals. Next week, we will continue this focus and start to build our own TV timetables, applying our mathematical knowledge. Another highlight in Maths this week was our fantastic visit from the Sumdog team, which is a popular Maths practice app we use in school. The assembly celebrated the children's achievements on the app, particularly highlighting that both Year 5 and Year 6 have won regional and national contests this academic year. We also had the chance to take part in our own class contest as well as meeting the actual Sumdog who joined us outside!
Not only that, Sumdog team also introduced us to their sister company, Strawbees, an engineering toolkit aimed at children that enhances problem-solving skills through building, creating and learning. We had the chance to try out some of their materials in a fun workshop with lots of cross-curricular links.
Sports Day also arrived on Wednesday and, in glorious conditions, the children competed brilliantly in the: Flat Sprint, Speed Bounce and Obstacle races. Well done to our race winners as well as each child for having the courage to take part and give their individual best!
We have also been sure to take some pauses throughout this week and have remembered to be mindful and aware of our feelings. This connected to our collective worship of truthfulness in the sense that we remained true to ourselves.
The children also had the opportunity to spend some time with Mr King, their next class teacher, in the Year 6 classroom.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone and well done to the Year 5 children for really giving your all throughout this week!

We have had another fantastic week in Year 2, and we couldn’t be prouder of all you have done!
In Maths, we continued with our topic on Statistics, developing our understanding of tables and block graphs by both creating them and reading them to answer a range of questions. Next week, we will learn all about pictograms, creating our own and reading them to answer a range of questions.
In English, we continued with our story ‘Grandad’s Secret Giant’. We learnt how the giant had helped save them during a dreadful storm, imagining that we were Billy, we created a vivid diary entry about the frightening experience! The entries were full of exciting literacy features such as adjectives and conjunctions.
In Reading, we explored the Grimm’s Fairy Tale ‘The Shoe Maker and the Elves’, starting by exploring how the illustrations allow us to identify key events in the story before even reading it! After, we answered a range of literal and inference questions about the text. We cannot wait to find out what fairy tale is next.
As part of our Young Leaders Award, we looked at the word Perseverance and how this is a quality all good leaders, and as individuals, we should have. We learnt how Gracie, the character in our story, set herself her the challenge of tying her laces, and how with lots of practise and perseverance, she succeeded! To help us remember to keep going even when it get tough, we created our own ‘Stick with it sticks’. These beautiful creations will be a constant reminder to us!
All children showed this skill as part of our talent show prep, practising their various routines during the build-up the first round on Thursday. Here, the children took to the stage in front of their class performing a variety of skills from dance to football. Well done to everyone who took part and of course to the act that went through to the grand finale, in front of the whole school! Year 2 certainly do have talent!
All children were also able to show of these skills in during our PE lessons where they took their time to practise their team work skills as part of the three-legged race! We cannot wait for Sports Day next week for all our parents to see!
Reminders
- Sports Day is next Wednesday, 26th June
- Please can children bring in hats and water bottles each day due to the weather becoming increasingly warmer!

Another week gone, where is this year going?
In English, we continued our class book, ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’ by Diane Hofmeyr. We discovered that on arrival in Marseilles, France, decisions had to be made on how to get Zeraffa to Paris. This inspired us to work in groups to design and create a new invention to transport the 11ft giraffe 550 miles to Paris. We thought of some wonderfully imaginative ideas and then wrote a letter to Monsieur Stravganza to persuade him to accept our idea. We then read further into Zeraffa Giraffa’s journey down the River Nile and used pictures from the book to create freeze frames of the main events.
In Maths, we were introduced to the concept of angles for the first time. Drawing on our previous knowledge from Year 2, we described turns as quarter, half, three-quarter and full turns. We soon recognised angles as describing the size of a turn and understood greater angles as having made a greater turn. We practised making quarter, half, three-quarter and whole turns in clockwise and anticlockwise directions and in familiar contexts such as on a clock face or the points of a compass. We soon moved on to ‘right angles’ to describe a quarter turn and learnt the symbol for a right angle. We went on to recognise right angles in various contexts, including in the world around us and within known 2-D shapes. We concluded our learning this week by being introduced to the terms “acute” and “obtuse” to describe the angles. We know that acute angles are less than a right angle, and obtuse angles are greater than 1 but less than 2 right angles.
The sun finally made an appearance as we ended the week with our Science trip to Martin Mere and became plant detectives for the day. The children were able to explore the wetland habitats to identify a variety of wetland plants and the things they need to survive. They investigated the function of their different parts and discovered how some are specifically adapted to a wetland environment. The trip provided a deeper scientific understanding of the functions of different plant parts, exploring and classifying living things and recognising that environmental changes can sometimes pose dangers to living things.
Let's hope the sun keeps shining over the weekend :)

What a lovely week we have had in the sunshine.
For RE this week we have enjoyed Caroline visiting us for Godly Play. Caroline continued with the theme of ‘Prayer’ and discussed the Pretzel prayer and how when you look at a pretzel it can remind us of crossed arms in prayer. Caroline then shared pretzels with the children as they all said a prayer together. On Wednesday we went to ‘WOW’ and after talking about the importance of prayer, three of the Reception children said a prayer. Thank your Caroline for a lovely service.
We continued with our theme of ‘Superheroes’. This week we have loved the story of ‘Supertato’ and on Monday we discovered some frozen vegetables in blocks of ice with letter asking us to help them escape! The children then enjoyed using warm water and salt to help the peas escape, the children had so much fun! The children have also enjoyed making pictures of the Evil Pea and writing wanted posters to help catch him. On Wednesday, we noticed that the evil pea had been up to more mischief. He had captured the vegetables and trapped them under a basket. The children continued the hunt for the evil pea, searching for clues in the outdoor area.
We have continued to practiced for sports day and cannot wait for everyone to watch it next week!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you all next week.
Miss Dalley and the Reception team.

Another busy week in Year 6!
In Reading and Writing, we have started working on a unit of writing linked to ‘adventurers’ and ‘leadership’ and we have learned about a number of significant literary and real-life explorers such as Beowulf and Robert Falcon Scott. Our final task this week was to research somebody who we believe is a good leader. There was a wide range of leaders chosen, both real and fictional, from various time periods and areas of profession.
Wednesday was ‘Thank a Teacher’ Day and the Year 6 children were instrumental in spreading appreciation around the whole school. The children dropped off individual cards to each member of staff – including office and kitchen staff and Mr Essery – as well as refreshments and treats! A special ‘thank you’ to those parents who brought in gifts for the Y6 staff as well – not expected but very appreciated!
Throughout the week, we have continued to practise our drama skills, both in class and in the shade on the school field. We have discussed potential scenes we would like to do, as well as ideas for songs to perform. The children have then had time in groups to come up with ideas and perform in front of their peers, thinking carefully about stage directions and voice projection. We think it is going to be a great show! We have talked about how our parents will enjoy the show more if our plans and the final script are kept a surprise…so please do try and have some restraint at home and avoid asking your children about what they will be doing! We can however assure you that all the children will get the type of part in the show which they want.
Finally, we saw the return of ‘TSP’s Got Talent’ this week. Well done to all the pupils who performed in front of their peers – what a range of talents we have in Year 6! A special ‘well done’ to our Year 6, who went on to represent the class in the whole-school final on Friday morning.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

A week full of memory making and learning highlights in Year 4!
‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ is one of the most famous fables and we loved revisiting the story this week to think deeper about our understanding of our Collective Worship value, Truthfulness. In RE, we reflected on times when we engage in prayer and the time it gives us to truly reflect and take a minute to ourselves. We discussed the places and times other religions pray, taking a closer look at prayer mats and the symbols we would include on our own mats.
In English, we continue with our story, ‘Blue John’. Before we started reading the new chapter, we explored our new STAR vocabulary, using our dictionaries to define the words and creating a glossary for future reference. We connected our learning with Geography, discovering new terms such as stalagmites and stalactites. Using Hot Seating, we explored the thoughts and feelings on the Queen of Darkness and used fronted adverbials to create sentences about her actions towards Blue John. Our learning then progressed to spotting features in explanation texts and justifying when a new paragraph should be used.
In Maths, we identified different sizes of angles recognising those that are obtuse, acute and right angles. We compared angle sizes in different shapes before identifying angles as turns.
To kick start our DT project, we conducted some product research with biscuit testing! After analysing the appearance and packaging of different biscuits, it was time to sample their taste and texture. We look forward to designing our own recipes and packaging for our own biscuit designs.
To celebrate National School Sport Week, our Sports Ambassadors devised a plan to set up different sporting activities on the playground for us to enjoy at breaktimes this week. From dodgeball to tennis, we spent our breaktimes playing with friends, developing our skills and enjoying time taking part in team games. We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity to grow in confidence and take part in sports we might not normally play.
The countdown is now on to Sports Day and we are looking forward to inviting our loved ones to come and watch us race next week! Have a great weekend, Year 4.

WOW! What a wonderful week we have had in Year 1.
We began this week with our new Maths topic ‘Money’. We started by exploring various coins and discussing our prior knowledge of money and the value that it holds. We then matched the correct coins with their value. We then ordered the coins from smallest to greatest based on their value. We have made a great start to this topic and enjoyed making real life links within our learning.
In RE this week we immersed ourselves in a world like Jesus’. We built upon our knowledge of Jesus’ world in comparison to ours, by recapping what we already know. We then explored various elements of Jesus’ world such as food, we tried some of the foods Jesus and his friends would have ate. We then explored how children would have learned during Jesus’ life, we even had a go of learning without electricity! We thought about how difficult this must have been for people.
Our highlight this week was our school talent show, we had so much fun sharing our wonderful talents and showcasing our skills. We worked as a team as we supported our friends in achieving their best. I am incredibly proud of how much kindness you have all demonstrated this week. Well done Year 1.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

What a fabulous week
We enjoyed our WOW service where Caroline talked to the children all about Prayer We were also lucky to have Godly Play this week where Caroline talked to the children all about Prayer some more following on from the WOW service. Thank you for all your hard work and support.
This week, the children have enjoyed practicing for their Sport’s day next week. They have been practicing the following races - Egg and Spoon, Hurdles, Sack and Flat race. We will continue to practice over the next week and are looking forward to Sport’s day next week.
We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘g’. For Maths we have enjoyed exploring number to 5, we have had to identify missing numbers on a number track and then also be able to recognise numbers that come ‘before’ a give number.
Our next theme is all about toys and we were very excited when on Tuesday ‘Fuzzy’ the teddy bear left us a secret note and a challenge to find clues around the classroom, when we found all of the pieces and solved the problem we discovered there was a picture with lots of hidden toys that we had to find. We also looked at pictures of toys within the classroom and discussed why we liked the toys and what material the different toys were made from! What a fabulous week and we are looking forward to exploring this theme more over the next few weeks
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Another week complete in the Year 5 classroom!
The undoubted highlight of our week had to be our school trip! This time our adventures took us not too far down the road to ‘Go Outside’ in Formby. We had an absolutely brilliant time in a range of survival, adventure and orienteering style activities, with many children commenting how this was their all-time favourite school trip. A particular highlight was the Slip 'N Slide where the change of clothes definitely became a necessity! What a time we had and a really fantastic final Year 5 outdoors adventure.
In our new unit on 'Loss, Death, and Christian Hope', we have delved into different interpretations of God. The students have been introduced to complex theological language, learning terms such as God being supreme, omniscient, and omni-benevolent. This unit has sparked thoughtful discussions and deepened our understanding of these profound concepts.
This week was also National School Sports Week! To mark this event, our Sports Ambassadors helped to ensure that there was a different sport available for the children to play at breaktime and lunchtime. The sports included dodgeball, tennis, rounders and more. Great fun was had as many children got involved with a different sporting activity during their free time.
The week concluded with an exciting Friday involving the school talent show. We were so proud of all children who auditioned in class, simply for having the courage to stand up and showcase their skills in front of others. We were beaming with pride! Well done also to our winning act who performed beautifully in front of the school on Friday. Great entertainment all round!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Reminders:
-Please read the guidance on Google Classroom for a ‘spelling challenge’ that the children have been set for the remainder of this academic year.
-English and Maths homework will continue as normal for the time being on Mirodo as usual.
-Should the warm weather and temperatures continue, please ensure that children apply suncream in preparation.
Date: 14th Jun 2024 @ 3:55pm

What a busy week we have had!
For RE this week we continued to learn about our theme of ‘Prayer’. We learnt about how we can use our hand to help us to pray using each finger for a different meaning, for an example the thumb because it is closest to you when you look at your hands reminds us to pray for people we love. The children then enjoyed drawing around their hands and talking about the ‘five finger prayer’.
We are loving our theme of ‘Superheroes’. This week we watched a short film about 10 rules of a superhero, we then asked the children to think about if they could have a super power what their superpower might be and why they would like to have that power. The children described to their friends how they would use their powers, what fun we had!
We have also spent the week thinking about Father’s Day and the special father figures in their life. We made a card and a special gift to share with our Father’s / father figures and talked about what makes them so special.
On Friday we had a classroom full of Super Heroes. The children started the day by taking part in a super hero catwalk, they showed their costume to their friends and talked about their favourite superhero. The children also made their own super hero vest using fabric pens, I’m sure you will agree they looked amazing! The children then made their own obstacle course outside to show their superhero moves!
We wish you all a lovely weekend!
Miss Dalley and the Reception team.

A fun-filled week in Year 6!
On Monday, the children had an ‘Art Day’, where they focused on caricatures. They created many different faces - using different techniques and styles – including celebrities, themselves and their friends. This was all leading to a ‘top secret’ project in the afternoon, which we cannot share on the blog! You can check out Twitter / X for some of the excellent celebrity caricatures created earlier in the day.
Tuesday and Wednesday saw the return of our mathematical / thinking project, ‘Washing Machine Madness’! Buying, selling, designing and marketing skills were all required for this task and once again, the children didn’t disappoint! There was lots of creative thinking as they adapted to the constantly changing financial market, negotiated prices and debated how to distribute resources. Well done, Year 6!
We also had several visitors / workshops this week to enhance our curriculum. On Wednesday afternoon, the children had a very informative Zoom session with Merseyside Police regarding online safety. They were also visited by the school nurse, who spoke to them about managing worries. Finally, we were treated to an incredible Music assembly with Rocksteady Music School, which even saw some of our teachers forming a band.
In anticipation for the rest of the children’s final half-term of primary school, we have also discussed our upcoming Alton Towers trip and how the day will look. We have also started thinking about the leavers’ production, but again…we’re trying to keep this a secret!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Date: 12th Jun 2024 @ 9:55pm
This week has flown by! There have been incredible efforts and you have all shone like superstars!
In our RE lesson this week, we explored more about Jesus' world compared to ours. We read the Bible stories 'The Good Samaritan' and 'The Nativity Story' to investigate the key differences between life then and now. We shared some brilliant ideas in our class discussion, by highlighting how babies were born when Jesus was alive, compared to now. We also discussed how people got around during Jesus' time, compared to now, we could see how much has changed, from travelling on donkeys to having multiple cars buses and trains.
In Maths this week we explored Place Value even further, we began counting up to 100 from 50. We used our understanding of Place Value within 50 to support our new learning. We used ten frames and part whole models to help us partition the bigger numbers into tens and ones.
We are delighted to announce that our Phonics Screening Check is over, I am incredibly proud of everyone's hard work. The determination in Year 1 has blown me away! A lovely restful weekend is very well deserved. Well done everyone!
A happy Father's Day this weekend. We hope you enjoy a weekend of making memories with your loved ones.
Thank you for all of the on going support at home, you all shined so bright this week!
Date: 12th Jun 2024 @ 10:53am
This week has flown by! It must be all the excitement leading up to our fantastic Summer term events.
In our RE lesson this week, we unpicked the Lord’s Prayer to comprehend the meaning behind the prayer and the terminology used. We identified that the Lord’s Prayer is a Christian prayer which Jesus taught his disciples to say. The prayer begins by making it clear who people are praying too because Christians believe that God is the Father of everyone.
This week we have carried out lessons to recap our learning and completed assessments to showcase our knowledge. The positivity and passion for learning that fills the room when the children are tasked with showcasing their thinking is incredible to see!
We are delighted to announce that our Multiplication Check is officially over and we couldn’t be prouder of the commitment and dedication the children have shown towards recalling their times tables. What a joy to hear from all of the children that the test ‘Really wasn’t anything to be worried about!’
A happy Father's Day this weekend. We hope you enjoy a weekend of makign memories with your loved ones... and of course watching the football!
A week full of hard work and smiles, Year 4. Thank you for shined brighter than the stars in the universe!
Date: 11th Jun 2024 @ 8:07pm

What another amazing week we have had in Nursery, the weeks really are flying by.
In Forest school this week, the children spent some time remembering our Forest school rules, calling sound and sitting circle. The Children were then set the challenge to make a mud face with water and mud and find different nature items in the Forest School area to add to their mud face
We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘p’. For Maths the children have continued to use their counting skills and number tracks to find which number comes after a given number, up to 5. Super counting and problem solving.
We really enjoyed our trip to Windmill Farm where the children spent time exploring the farm and the different animals that lived there. They were able to feed the lambs as well as seeing goats and alpacas. The train ride was a firm favourite for all, as we enjoyed spotting the different animals. What a fabulous day out with lots of fun, laughter and memories made.
We hope all the Dads have a fabulous Father’s day and manage to put their feet up and enjoy the football!

We can hardly believe it's already Friday; this week has flown by!
On Thursday, we were treated to a fantastic and fun assembly as Jacob from ‘Rocksteady’ Music School visited to tell us about an exciting opportunity coming our way in September. First, he educated us on the different instruments that make up a rock band as well as treating us to lots of classic songs and singalongs. The children were engrossed (as were the adults) and so much fun was had!
Our Maths lessons this week involved recapping our mathematical learning so far this year through some assessments. We are delighted with the children’s positivity, resilience, maturity and overall effort in completing these assessments to the best of their ability. Well done, Year 5! Next week’s Maths lessons will focus on converting measurements (ml to L and g to kg).
In our other learning, we have been developing our tactical awareness in various sports. This week, we applied these skills to a new game for the children, Wazball. It was fantastic to see such competitiveness in PE lessons and a class that works so well as a team. Well done, everyone! We look forward to building on this in our PE lessons next week.
Wishing you all an enjoyable weekend and thank you, Year 5, for all your hard work during this week!
Reminders:
-Weekly spellings have been uploaded to Google Classroom, which will be tested next Friday (21st).
-English and Maths homework will continue as normal for the time being on Mirodo as usual.
-Should the weather warm up (it is June after all), please ensure that children apply suncream in preparation.
-The ‘Go Outside’ Year 5 trip will be on Wednesday 19th June.
Date: 8th Jun 2024 @ 9:57am

As we enter our final term in Year 3, our first week has been busy and filled with lots of fun in the sunshine.
This week in Maths, we have been persevering with time. The children built on their previous learning to tell the time to the nearest minute. We reminded ourselves that if the minute hand is pointing before 6, we use the phrase “past the hour” and if it is pointing after 6, we use the phrase “to the hour”. To find out how many minutes past/to the hour a time is, the children identified the 5-minute interval before and then counted individual minutes. To support the children when telling the time to the hour, we used a part-whole model to help them see the number bond to 60. The children were then formally introduced to the 12-hour digital clock. Children continue to use the phrases “minutes past/ to” the hour to tell the time on a digital clock. It was important to highlight the convention that we say “20 minutes to 4” to describe the time displayed on a digital clock as “3:40”, not “40 minutes past 3”. This built on the learning from the previous step where the children converted times past the hour to times to the hour.
In English, we began our new class book, ‘Zeraffa Giraffa’ by Diane Hoffmeyer. On Monday, we discovered some interesting clues that revealed the true story of Zeraffa the giraffe. These included: an original guide to the menagerie at the Jardin Des Plantes in Paris, a copy of the original ticket to see Zeraffa, the map of her journey with photographs of Muhammad Ali, Pasha of Egypt, and Charles X, King of France. After making some excellent predictions, we learnt that the giraffe was sent from Egypt to King Charles X of France as a gift. We then wrote fantastic letters from Muhammad Ali to Charles X King of France describing the long journey that the giraffe had to take from the southern plains of Africa to France.
In RE, we began to explore our new topic ‘Why do we celebrate Harvest?’ We discovered that the Harvest is mentioned many times in the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament. For example, in Genesis 8:22, after the flood, God promises Noah that there will always be a time for planting and harvesting. After discussing why we celebrate Harvest, we enjoyed reflecting on our own experiences of Harvest Festivals.
We ended our week on a high with the TSP Summer Fair. We were thrilled to make so many memories with our friends. We enjoyed a disco with face painting and party games, bouncy castles and an obstacle course. What a fantastic day!
We hope the sun continues to shine into the weekend. See you all Monday!
Date: 7th Jun 2024 @ 10:12am

We can’t believe it is here already…the FINAL half term of Year 5! Time certainly has raced by up to this point but we are not taking anything for granted as there is still so much left to achieve and plenty more memories to be made. For now, here are some highlights from our week…
In our Collective Worship work, our June monthly value focus is ‘Truthfulness’. In a particular session, we have focused on being true to ourselves by focusing upon our strengths and our uniqueness as individuals. A particular activity involved us “snowballing” each other’s names before each child gave a compliment to the person whose name they retrieved. A lovely activity that brought many a smile!
In Maths, we have focused on telling the time. This has involved reading both analogue and digital clocks to the nearest minute and converting between the two. We then extended our learning to the 24-hour clock clock. A particularly fun (and competitive) Maths lesson was our ‘Battle of the Bands’ Times Tables Rockstars lesson! Our class were split into two teams (The Rockers and The Rollers). Each team had to answer as many questions as they could (as accurately as they could) to contribute to their team’s overall final score. A close battle throughout but well done to The Rollers on your victory!
In English, we have been reading ‘The Hunter’ by Paul Geraghty, which is the story of a little girl called Jamina who goes out into the African bush with her grandfather. Her dream is to be a hunter when she is older but, when she is separated from her grandfather, she finds a baby elephant whimpering besides its dead mother. As Jamina bravely helps the little orphaned elephant, we are eager to find out where this journey takes her.
Thank you to Team TSP and all helpers for a fantastic ‘Rainbow Day’ on Friday. We had a great time on the obstacle course, inflatables and there was no better ending than a D-I-S-C-O!

What a fantastic start to our final term! We have had the greatest week in Year 1, filled with so much fun!
In Maths this week we continued to work on Position and Direction. We recapped and reviewed our learning from before half term, focusing on turns and left and right. We thoroughly enjoyed doing the Cha Cha Slide to help embed the positional language!
Our favourite story from this week was ‘Come all you little persons’. We loved reading this enchanting story book, we especially loved the beautiful illustrations. We enjoyed learning about nature within this story, and gave it a positive class vote at the end of the day!
In Geography this week we began our new topic ‘At the farm’. We explored different types of farms such as Arable farms, Dairy farms and Livestock farms. We shared lots of experiences about farms we have been to and discussed our understanding of farms and what they are for. We learned all about the features of each farm.
We were lucky enough to put our learning into practice on our school trip to Windmill Farm! We had a brilliant day exploring the features of the farm. We fed the lambs, they were super strong! Farmer Paul then gave us a tour of all of the animals at the farm, our favourites were the alpacas and the goats. We loved the train ride across the farm, we spotted all kinds of animals along the way. One of our highlights were getting to hold the critters! We had to be very brave as we held snakes, spiders and lizards! We made lots of memories and discovered so much about life on the farm!

We hope you all had a fabulous half term and all ready for a fun packed final half term in Reception!
For RE this week we have started to think about Prayer. We began our session thinking about when we pray and prayers that we knew. We then looked at lots of different objects we may use to help us pray, such as rosary beads and holding crosses. The children then wrote their own special prayer to God.
We were very excited to start our new theme ‘Superheroes’. The role play has been turned into a superhero headquarters, where the children have had the opportunity to dress up as a superhero and think about what the role of a super hero is. The children have enjoyed thinking about what makes a superhero and if they know any superheroes? The children also enjoyed thinking about if they were a superhero what super powers would they have and why? We look forward to seeing where our learning will take us!!!
As we finished for half term, we planted sunflower seeds. We were excited to see that seedlings had grown and a few leaves appeared on the stem. We made sure that our seedlings were in the sunlight, had lots of space and were watered regularly. We can’t wait to watch them grow!
On Thursday Reception enjoyed a gymnastics session with Pro Skill Sports. The children learnt lots of new skills and even got to use some new equipment. What fun we had!
On Friday, it was our school fair. The children enjoyed pony rides, face painting, bouncy castle and even a disco! Thank you so much to Team TSP for organising this for us.
We wish you all a lovely weekend and see you all next week!

The final term is upon us and we are delighted to be spending lots of opportunities learning and having fun in the sunshine.
In RE, we discussed how we have all had opportunities to pray in many different ways, through our school assemblies, time in church and our own reflective time. We explained what prayer means to us and concluded that a prayer is an expression of belief and commitment. Using our handprints, we unpicked using our five fingers, five things we pray for including those who teach us, lead us, those who love us and those who are sick and weak.
With a focus still on Time, we looked at how we convert between analogue and digital time, before exploring how time is recorded in a 24-hour format. We considered those times which occur during the day and times that pass by while we sleep.
Moving on from stories surrounding the wonders of volcanoes, we now delve into the depth of caves and caverns with inspiration from the wonderful book titled ‘Blue John’. The story sees us venturing down into the caves where the Queen of Darkness lives and we follow the adventures of her rare and precious baby, Blue John, who has been created using the blue of a glacier and the gold of the sun. Using the text, we discussed what stalactites are and used similes to describe how they grow. We used aspects of the text to correct the use of past tense and used commands to write a set of instructions.
In PE, we have been working hard to prepare for our up and coming Sports Day. From the egg and spoon race to the sack race, we smiled and laughed throughout as we raced our way to victory against our friends and even mastered a three-legged race. We cannot wait to show our parents and careers the races we have been practising in a couple of weeks
Our History lessons this term all stem around our perspectives of the Vikings and the stereotypes we hold. We generated a range of adjectives and nouns used to describe Vikings and reinforce the chronology of the times of the first Viking raid using a timeline of events. In the role of Saxon spies, we draw from memory, a Viking ship and then posed questions to analyse its features. Next week, we will examine why Vikings have such a bad reputation
On Friday, we attended the TSP Summer Fair. This is by far our most favourite event of the year and we were thrilled to be able to make memories with our friends. From the morning disco, face painting to the bouncy castles and obstacle course. We simply loved it all!
An excellent week and we hope that the sun continues to shine long into the weekend. Enjoy and see you on Monday!

Welcome back after a fabulous half term, it has been so lovely listening to all of the children’s half term news !
In Forest school this week, the children spent some time remembering our Forest school rules, they then were set a challenge to create their own necklace using leaves and other natural resources they could find. The necklaces looked amazing.
We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘n’. For Maths we have enjoyed exploring the number 3 and 4 and the composition of them for example 2 + 1 = 3 also 1 + 2 = 3, 1 + 3 = 4, 2 + 2 = 4 The children then enjoyed exploring dominoes trying to find all of them that had number 3 or 4 on. Why not see if you can spot and numbers 3 or 4 when you are out and about.
For the next two weeks we are going to be learning all about sunflowers, answering questions such as; What do sunflowers look like? Do all sunflowers look the same? Where do sunflowers grow? We have started to look at different images of sunflowers and thought about what we noticed and what we liked about the different images. The children also enjoyed learning all about Vincent Van Gough and his famous art work ‘Sunflowers’, they then spent some time looking closely at the different colours shapes and patterns they could see in different sunflower pictures. The children created their own sunflower pictures that are displayed in our classroom. Some of the children simply enjoyed exploring with different colours and patterns they had noticed! Super work Nursery.
On Friday the children enjoyed taking part in our school ‘Rainbow Day’ the children were treated to Pony rides, bouncy castles and face painting to name a few! What a fabulous time we had.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
