That time has come. The end of our Year 5 learning journey. What a time we have had and it has truly been a pleasure to have taught this class throughout this academic year! They have brought so much laughter, creativity, hard-work and kindness, with so many moments that will live long in the memory. Thank you, Year 5! While the summer holidays await, there are just a few more things to first say…
Firstly, thank you for being such excellent babysitters when Myla visited. She loved her time in the class and this is because you were all so nurturing and lovely to her. This led to lots of smiles on her part (and mine) and it was a really proud moment to have introduced you all. Mrs Moran echoes the same feelings about Cole and how mucy he enjoyed his visit too.
Please also accept a heartfelt thank you for the kind messages, cards and gifts that have been gratefully received this week. They are never expected but meant a lot. Thank you.
All that is left to do now is to wish you all an absolutely brilliant summer break! I hope the sun shines as much as you all have throughout this year. Make the most it; create some memories with your family and friends and stay safe.
Over and out, Year 5!

We cannot believe that we are at the end of the school year! What a wonderful time we have had, we have made so many fantastic memories in Year 1. We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved this year. It has been an absolute pleasure to spend this year with such positive, hardworking and enthusiastic pupils. You have all demonstrated such determination in your learning and have truly enjoyed each day in Year 1.
A huge thank you to all of our parents for such amazing support throughout this year. I hope you all have a brilliant summer and enjoy lots of well-deserved rest. I look forward to seeing you all again in September for another incredible year.

Well...the day has finally arrived! Today, we said our final goodbyes and finished our time here at Trinity St. Peter's.
On Monday and Tuesday, we were able to perform our leavers' production for the rest of the school and our families. There was laughter, tears, but most of all...enjoyment. The script was written by the class and included all the memories, jokes and stories they wanted to reminisce about with their audiences. The children shone in every sense: their acting was superb, their comedy timing was impeccable and their singing was just beautiful. We were all so incredibly proud of them.
We concluded our week with our Leavers' Service on Friday morning. This was perhaps more emotional than our leavers’ production with a special dance, presentations, montages, speeches and one final opportunity for our pupils to show off their incredible voices. There was not a dry eye in Holy Trinity Church!
There is not much left to write that has not already been said in class, at the production or in Church! Nevertheless, Year 6, you have been A-MAZ-ING. We have loved teaching you and watching you all grow as individuals and as a class. Bonds have been made for life and we can't wait to see you go onto achieve even more success and happiness in your secondary schools. We will miss you all.
Parents, we would like to thank you for the gifts and cards this week - never expected but always appreciated - and most of all, for your kind words. Your continued support has allowed the children to continue to thrive at Trinity St. Peter's in their final year.
Have an amazing summer, everyone!

We cannot believe it is our last full week in Reception!
This week, the children have been practicing for their final WOW service at St Peter’s church. The children are so excited to share all their special memories from their time in Reception.
On Tuesday, we had a very exciting visit from Active Sefton. Jay came in to talk to the children about the importance of keeping our bodies healthy and we discussed good food choices. Jay then demonstrated how to make a strawberry and banana smoothie and we all got a taste. It was delicious! Thank you so much for a lovely session.
We have also enjoyed thinking about what our favourite activities were throughout this year. The children came up with a list of five things they would like to do before the end of the year. We can’t wait for lots of fun next week!
The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:
- You can join at Formby Library and take part in person. The librarian will give you a collector folder, stickers, and other special rewards, and help you find books to read.

As our penultimate week comes to an end, we look back on some highlights from the week.
In recognition of our Collective Worship value, we outlined the responsibilities we will grow into as we ger older and those responsibilities we will need to take on to stay safe and healthy. In RE, we reflected on all our learning this half term and concluded with a prayer to summarise our wishes and hopes for the summer break.
In English, we were inspired by Neil Gaiman’s instruction writing that navigated a journey around his Fairyland Forest. We decided to design our own enchanted woods and use command sentences to instruct our reader on the path they should take to safely venture around of mysterious lands.
Using maps, compasses and directional language, we discovered the main attractions located around St. James Park in London and used the grid references to outline where they were located. We then moved onto listening to given directions in order to draw a given image on a grid in the right location, correctly identifying whether the image should go above, below, to the left or right on the gird.
After visiting the boardroom to pitch our unique biscuit designs, our recipe was finalised and our new biscuit creations were made. Fantastically named, our Chocmellow Delights were not only tasty but looked delightful too!
We are so grateful to the wonderful Liverpool Cathedral for the incredible singing sessions they have delivered over the year. We have learnt so many joyful and meaningful songs that we had the pleasure of performing to our parents this week. We look forward to working with Mr Gordon again in September and hope our parents enjoyed the show as much as we did!

We have had another incredible year together full of laughter and joy. You should all be very proud of what you have achieved, showing true grit and determination.
It has been truly a pleasure to teach you over the past two years and I have loved watching you grow into the funny, confident children that you are. I know that you will continue to shine as you move into Year 3 and as you progress through the school.
To the parents, we would like to say a massive thank you for your support over the past year and also for beautiful gifts you have given us. You have been incredibly kind and generous and we are extremely grateful.
From all of us here in Year 2, have the best summer and we will see you in September!

We hope you enjoyed reading the children’s end of year reports last week!
We can’t quite believe we’re here but the final full school week of Year 5 is now complete. Just four and a half more school days left of this academic year to go…we’ll be sure to make the most of them! For now, here are some highlights from this week…
In English, the children proudly completed their buddy letters! Their letters were so thoughtfully written and contained a wealth of information that covered the role of a buddy; information about our amazing school and also some more information about themselves too. We hope that the families of our buddies enjoy reading them on their child’s first day in September as much as we enjoyed writing them!
We also have been transported back in time to the fascinating Victorian era! Through research and different hands-on activities, the children have delved into the rich history and culture of the 19th century. We explored the daily lives of Victorian children, comparing their education, chores, and leisure activities with those of today. One highlight of our learning has been the exploration of Victorian inventions and their lasting legacy. The children were amazed to discover that many everyday items we take for granted were first invented during this time. We also enjoyed watching part of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, which paid homage to the Industrial Revolution through its representation of the idyllic British countryside being transformed into a bustling industrial landscape.
Another highlight of this week was the opportunity for the children to visit our Nursery classroom on Thursday to meet some of their buddies when they move up to Year 6. It was heartwarming to watch them play and interact with the younger children, creating a truly wholesome and memorable experience for everyone involved!
The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:
- You can join at Formby Libraryand take part in person. The librarian will give you a collector folder, stickers, and other special rewards, and help you find books to read.
- Or, take part online by signing up here. Set a reading goal and log your books on your profile. When you reach your goal, you will unlock a virtual badge and certificate.
Please note, the in-person and online challenges are separate. Medals and certificates are only available via the library, for those taking part in the in-person challenge. We hope the children enjoy completing the reading challenge and this will be celebrated when we return to school in September.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Reminders:
-Homework set via Mirodo has finished for this academic year. Though, feel free to extend your learning and complete some extra activities on the virtual classroom to further improve your skills.
-School finishes for this academic year at 1pm on Friday 19th July.

Well done on another wonderful week Year 1, one more week to go! We cannot believe how quick this term has gone, we are getting very excited for our fantastic summer plans.
This week in Maths we continued our topic 'Time', focusing on hours minutes and seconds. We shared all of our prior knowledge and discussed what type of activities would take us seconds, minutes and hours. We then had a go at telling the time by the half hour and by the hour. We used various types of practical resources to support our understanding of the hands on a clock and what they mean.
In RE we explored the second part of the story of 'Joseph'. We have been anticipating what might happen next in Joseph's journey, and were fascinated by his time in Egypt.
Our highlight this week has been making our very own smoothies during the smoothie workshop, we put all of our DT knowledge into practice by selecting our favourite fruits, and blending them to create our own delicious smoothie.
- You can join at Formby Library and take part in person. The librarian will give you a collector folder, stickers, and other special rewards, and help you find books to read.

We have had another great week in Year 1!
In Maths we began our new topic ‘Time’. We focused on before and after, days of the week and months of the year. We are excited to continue next week and learn more about hours in the day.
We started a new topic in RE this week as we read the story of Joseph. We discussed the first part of the story and how we might have felt if we were Joseph. We shared our ideas of what might happen next, and look forward to finding out what made Joseph a hero.
Our highlight this week was taking a trip to Kiosk as a part of our Design Technology topic. We had the chance to try some delicious smoothies and learn about how they are made.

And that's it, our penultimate week is over, only one more week left of Year 2!
In English, we finished off reading our story, Grandad's Secret Giant, focusing further on developing our understand of the formation of letters and diary entries. We loved writing our final letter to Grandpa. Next week, will focus heavily on transition into Year 3.
In Maths, we finished off our final topic of the year, Position and Direction. We focused on describing turns as well as giving instructions to our friends giving them specific commands whilst using mathematical terminology. Next week, we will consolidate our learning from the year through a range of fun activites.
To finish off our Young Leaders Award, we completed our final step - Action. We decided that it would be a lovely idea to celebrate our Year 6 children on the success of their SATS results. For this, we made the children cakes and sandwiches, serving them juice at the same time in the hall.
In PE, we focused on developing our team-building skills whilst playing a game of rounders on the field. The weather has been perfect or lots of fresh air!

For RE this week we have continued to talk about special times especially those while we have been in Reception. The children have enjoyed practicing singing, learning lines and creating paintings to talk about at our final wow service, we can’t wait to see you there!
Continuing with our ‘Superheroes’ theme, we talked about the importance of superheroes fuelling their bodies before saving the day! We discussed how it is important to have a balanced diet and to think about healthy choices. Leading on from this, the children were able to taste a variety of different fruits. It was lovely to see the children having a try, even if they were a little unsure as to whether they would like it.
In D&T, Reception have been using their design to create their own boat. They experimented with different materials and joining methods to achieve the end result. Amazing work everyone!
We also discussed with the children 5 things they would like to do together before the end of the term. As you can imagine the children had quite a long list and some of the ideas we were not able to quite carry out! After a vote the children settled for a final 5, you will have to keep a watch on our twitter page to see what these ideas are!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you all next week!

A very active week in Year 6!
On Tuesday, our final primary school trip took place as we ventured to Alton Towers! The children had been very excited in the build-up as we discussed how the day would work, looked at the theme park map and watched videos about particular rides. We went on some rides as a class (The Rapids, The Runaway Mine Train) but also split into groups at various points to allow us to go on the types of rides we wanted. Despite limited time at the park, we were able to get on several other rides in groups, including Galactica, Wicker Man and Oblivion – as well as take part in water fights and visit the aquarium! All in all, a successful day! Check the Year 6 Twitter page for all the pictures.
Production rehearsals have continued with the script now being finalised and all children happy with their roles. We have focused on stage directions and transitions this week and we have just about sorted where we need to be and when! Children should now be bringing in their additional clothes for the production so dress rehearsals can start next week.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
Date: 4th Jul 2024 @ 10:21am
It has been as busy as ever in Year 4 and we are certainly making the most of our time together before the Summer Break.
In order to understand our new monthly value of responsibility, we recorded all of the responsibilities we hold both in school and at home. We connected our statements to forma chain and recognised that if we don’t uphold our responsibilities, this chain will break.
After receiving a letter from a curious caver, we set to the task of researching facts to form a reply to the many questions the caver has asked. He claimed he had tripped on a stalactite, but we know that can’t be possible as they are located on the cave ceilings!? But don’t worry, we explained in full detail that this couldn’t have been the case and in fact, it may have been a stalagmite he tripped on.
In Maths, we have been collecting data and representing the data on a bar and line graph. We have considered the increments the graph scale should go up in and even used a key to distinguish between two sets of data represented on our graphs.
To continue our focus on sound, we took to the challenge of creating absorbent boxes in Science. After using a diamond 9 to predict which materials would be the most and least absorbent, we selected our top 3 and took to sound proofing our boxes.
Have a brilliant weekend, Year 4. See you on Monday!
Date: 3rd Jul 2024 @ 9:39am
What a fabulous week!
We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘c’. For Maths we have enjoyed exploring shape and recapping the similarities and differences between squares and rectangles and exploring the properties of circles and triangles. The children then enjoyed creating pictures using the different shapes.
This week the children enjoyed setting up a hair-dressers, they spent time washing and styling hair for friends and staff alike. There was great fun had and the children have suggested a pamper day, which we will be busy planning over the next few days.
Continuing with our theme ‘Toys’ the children have spent some time exploring old and new toys. The children spent some time exploring old toys and then using their observational skills they enjoyed paining, drawing or collaging their own pictures.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Well done to Year 5 for giving your all throughout this week! It has been as busy as ever and the time really is flying by with now just under two weeks of this school year remaining. Here are some highlights from the many different things that we have managed to fit into this week…
Our English lessons this week focused on letter writing. The children were tasked with planning and drafting a letter to their buddy and their families to tell them all about themselves, our school and their new role as a Year 6 buddy in September. The children put such thought and care into this writing and are looking forward to writing up the final versions next week.
The children also enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby library who informed the children about this year's summer reading challenge. We hope that the children will be able to enjoy the reading challenge over the summer holidays and celebrate this with us when they return to school in September.
Our Maths learning focused on calculating intervals of time and then using these skills to interpret and later create our own TV channel schedules. The children enjoyed this opportunity to take up the role of lead producer of a television channel and having the power to decide which of their favourite shows were on at different times of the day. Next week’s Maths will incorporate a revision of different concepts explored throughout this term. Please see previous blogs for an outline of the different areas that we have been learning in previous weeks.
Even with just two weeks of the school year remaining, there really still is so much more to cram in. We will be sure to make the most of it. Enjoy your weekends and see you on Monday!
Reminders:
-As mentioned in last week’s blog and on Google Classroom, for the remaining weeks of Year 5, the children have been set a spelling challenge. The aim is to learn as many words as they can from a list of common exception words. The list is available on Google Classroom and the children should pick a list that they feel best challenges them.
-The final homework of Year 5 has been set and should be completed on or before Wednesday 10th July.
-Please also remember that the Year 5 ‘Virtual Classroom’ is always available and has been re-attached to this blog for ease. This includes links to a variety of websites and resources. All pupils' individual passwords can be found on Google Classroom. Don't forget, there is also the ‘Practice’ section on Mirodo where the children can choose any topic they wish to practise for Maths, Reading, SPaG or Science.

Only two weeks left, and what fun we have had!
In English we continued with our story and started by writing a letter to the giants, from Billy’s point of view, apologising for his reaction. After, we created our own cinquains about the giant, as well as important people in our lives!
In Maths, we began our topic on Position and Direction. We explored how objects and people move in specific ways using mathematic terminology such as clockwise and anti-clockwise. Using this language, we moved various objects and mapped out where objects would end up accordingly. Next week, we will finish this topic and will consolidate our learning.
This week, we focused on the difference between the seaside now, and in the past. We learnt about how people dressed in the past, as well as some of the past times people used to enjoy!
This week we finished off our last topic in our Young Leaders Award: Action. We came up with a plan to celebrate and help our school community. Watch this space!
We also had another fantastic week with Kate from Kate’s Krystal. We continued to focus on our self-worth and confidence. These sessions have been fantastic, and we have loved every minute of them!
Reminders
- Please remember hats, sun cream and water bottles where possible.
Date: 30th Jun 2024 @ 2:10pm
Another busy week for us here in Year 2!
In English, we continued reading our story and focused on writing in the past tense. This week, we took on the role of Billy and wrote several diary entries about his experiences both on his scary boat trip and also when he saw the giant for the first time!
In Maths we finished off our topic on statistics creating and interpreting a range of pictograms. To consolidate our learning, we solved problems from a range of graphs. Next week, we will start our final topic: Geometry. In this unit we will focus on position and direction.
Wednesday was certainly a highlight of our week! Our annual sports day took place in blistering heat and with a huge crowd of proud parents! We are so proud of each and everyone of you, showing perseverance and team work when encouraging your friends!
On Friday, we finished our final DT topic of the year: Moving Monsters. We started by investigating different levers and leverages and how they can be used to move various items such as hole punches and scissors. After, we designed our monsters, adding detail before cutting them out and connecting them with levers and paper fasteners. We had some fantastic creations, we hope you enjoy them too!
Reminder
- PE days will continue to be on a Monday and Thursday each week.
- Please, where possible, can we ask that children have hats, sun cream and water bottles.
Date: 28th Jun 2024 @ 3:40pm

What a fun filled week we have had in Reception, enjoying the sunshine.
For RE this week we have started a new theme all about special times. We began our session thinking about what we mean by ‘special times’, the children talked about holidays and birthdays. We then began to reflect on our school year and the special times we have had together. The children have made a list of their favourite special times and we will then talk about these in our final WOW service.
On Wednesday we had the best time for Sports day, we were glad the rain stayed away and we could take part in our races! We are very proud of them all and their sportsmanship.
Continuing with our ‘Superheroes’ theme, the children have enjoyed re-telling the story of ‘Supertato’ using a variety of different vegetables. As a class we then thought of different ways we could catch the Evil pea to stop him causing any more mischief. We fed the ideas back to Supertato and sent him on a mission. When we came back in the morning, Supertato had caught the Evil pea using cellotape! The children then had a go at writing speech bubbles for what the Evil pea may be saying now that he’s trapped.
As part of our D&T ‘making boats’ topic, we started to explore waterproof items and items that sink or float. As a class we tested different household items to see if they were waterproof and then categorised them. We then looked at items that sink or float and discussed what the best materials would be to use to make our own junk model boat.
We wish you all a lovely weekend
