We the end of the Spring Term upon us, we spent some time reflecting on our fantastic achievements and our goings on this week.
This term, we have been working hard to consolidate our knowledges of our times tables ahead of the Year 4 Multiplication Check. We have found that we learn our times tables best through games such as Battle Ships, Monopoly and Top Trumps. We also found a great resource which enabled us to make times tables fortune tellers which meant we could continue to practise our times tables at break times and through the school day.
We have thoroughly enjoyed reading the story ‘When the Giant Stirred’ and took pride in immersing our own characters into the story this week. Applying our knowledge of fronted adverbials, dialogue and expressive language, we showcased our learning this term by re-writing the story with our own character in mind.
On Thursday morning the children were shocked to the Easter Bunny hopping around school. We had a fun time dancing along with the bunny and spreading some Easter cheer.
What a wonderful way to end the term by taking part in our Easter Service led by the fantastic Year 3 children. It was amazing to watch their performance and see their incredible acting and singing come to life. We did a great job supporting Year 3 with the lovely songs in our service and celebrating this wonderful time of the year.
Please find our updated virtual classroom attached to this blog to support optional Home Learning over the Easter holiday.
What an amazing term we have had, Year 4. Go make some incredible memories with your family and friends this Easter and we look forward to seeing you back on Monday 15th April. Best wishes from us all x
Reminders:
- School commences on Monday 15th April.
- Clarinet lessons continue in the Summer term.
- Year 4 PE lessons remain on Wednesday and Friday each week.

We cannot believe we are finishing for the Easter holidays, we have had the best time this term learning new things and most of all having fun with all our friends!
On Wednesday it was our Easter Bonnet and WOW service. The children paraded to Church wearing their bonnets and enjoyed singing songs to their family and friends. Anne and Caroline also told the Easter story. Thank you both for your hard work.
We continued our learning all about Easter back at Nursery. The children enjoyed listening to the Easter story and talking about how they celebrate Easter at home. The children also learnt all about the significance of Hot cross buns, we talked about how the bun signifies the end of Lent and that the cross is to signify Jesus died on a cross. The children enjoyed tasting hot cross buns and singing along to the song ‘Hot Cross Buns’.
On Thursday morning the children were shocked to find two Easter Bunnies in our outdoor area, they played in the sand pit, climbed on the pirate ship and even rode on the bikes. They did leave behind a yummy Easter bunny for all of the children in Foundation Stage.
Please see or updated virtual classroom attached to this blog if you would like to explore any of the themes we will be exploring after the half term.
We wish you all a restful and enjoyable Easter. We can’t wait to see what the Summer term brings.
Well done Nursery!

And just like that, we finish our final full week of the Spring Term!
In Maths, we explored both weight and volume, starting the week by carefully measuring various items from around the classroom ensuring we were using the correct units, grams. After, we added weights together, to work out the total mass of various items which in turn allowed us to compare items using the terminology; heavier, lighter, and equal to. By the end of the week, we had begun to investigate volume in more detail. We compared various amounts describing and comparing them by stating whether they were full, nearly full, half full, nearly empty, and empty. We loved getting hands on for this working together carefully so not to spill the water!
In English, we began to plan for our final piece of writing, a diary entry written as if we were there during the blitz! We carefully discussed what we wanted to include in each paragraph and identified things that could be happening around us. To support us without writing further, we learnt about adverbs, and how they are used to describe verbs.
This week we had our penultimate recorder lesson, a lesson that will be sorely missed after the half term! This week we performed for our peers and demonstrated the skills we had developed over the past few weeks. We cannot wait for our final lesson, next week.
We loved our DT lessons this week, where we finally saw our creations and designs come to life. Working closely in teams, and using stiff cardboard, we carefully cut out the different pieces required to make our wheel and base. Using masking tape, we carefully constructed the main elements, which was a lot hard than it looked! Next week, we will connect the wheel and base before finally adding out pods to create the finished product. Watch this space!
From all of us here in Year 2, we hope you have a wonderful last weekend before half term begins!
Reminders:
- Year 2 will continue to work in the portable cabin until we return after Easter.
- The KS2 Easter Service (led by Year 3) will be at St. Peter’s Church at 9:20am on Thursday 28th March.
- Thursday 28th March is the end of term and a 1:00pm finish

Another busy week in Year 3!
In Maths, we started looking at fractions. We reminded ourselves how to work out the numerator and denominator and the difference between a unit fraction and a non-unit fraction.
In English, we continue to work on our 'big write' using the key features of an information leaflet. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Big Blue Whale’ this term and are looking forward to finding out what book we will be reading next term.
In RE, we retold the Easter story and created a flow map to sequence the events. We also learnt about the different symbols of Easter and what they represent. We enjoyed researching how countries around the world celebrate Easter. We were intrigued and loved learning about Ramadan, and how Muslims won't eat or drink during the hours of daylight. This is called fasting. Ramadan remembers the month the Qur'an (the Muslim holy book) was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.
We took our Geography lesson outside this week as we learnt what a delta is. The children created a HUGE river of facts about the Nile, the delta and life in Alexandria. Well done Year 3!
To end the week we went on an 'eggciting' Easter Egg hunt! On the sound of the horn, we raced around finding tokens around the school to exchange for an Easter treat. We had a cracking time!
Reminders:
Thursday 28th March: Easter Service led by Y3 @ St Peter's Church 9.20 am.

The weeks are flying by, we can’t believe it’s nearly the end of term!
The children had their final visit from Caroline as part of our Lent programme. Caroline brought her friend Peter the palm tree to tell the children about what it was like on Palm Sunday. Caroline told the children about ‘the last supper’ and the children talked about what they would eat if it was their last supper. Caroline then talked to the children about the meaning of Easter and told them the Easter story. Thank you Caroline for another lovely session.
This week the children have enjoyed learning all about ‘Ramadan’ and the religion of ‘Islam’. The children discussed how followers of Islam are called Muslims, and that Muslims believe there is one true God called ‘Allah’. We also learnt that ‘Ramadan’ is a period of fasting not eating or drinking during daylight hours. The children also enjoyed looking at similarities and differences between the Muslim faith and the Christian faith, there were more than you would think!
The children have been practicing songs for the Easter Bonnet ‘WOW’ service next Wednesday and we can’t wait to perform them to all our family and friends.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and see you next week.

We have had another fantastic week in Year 1!
This week began with a focus on length and height. In Maths we started to explore length, by looking at how long and short a variety of objects are. We used STAR vocabulary such as Length, Height, Longer and Shorter to describe different familiar objects. We had a go at comparing the length of classroom objects such as books, pens, and natural resources. This allowed us to practice using our STAR vocabulary before moving on to measuring. Our next step was to measure the length and height of objects using non-standard units of measurement. We enjoyed measuring our height by using cubes, we estimated how many cubes tall we might be, and then tested it out, we were shocked at how tall we were! 29 cubes long! We then moved on to measure our favourite classroom toys and other resources using non-standard units of measurement such as paper clips, glue sticks and pens. Finally, we took our understanding of length and height and began measuring objects using standard units of measurement. We enjoyed this unit of work and demonstrated an excellent understanding of length and height.
In DT this week we completed our Puppets! We had so much fun during this project and are very proud of the skills we have developed over this half-term. We can’t wait to share our final products with you all!
To make the most of the wonderful weather this week, we explored our outside area this week as we planted more beautiful flowers, using our gardening skills to make our planting beds more colourful for the Spring! We demonstrated our SHINE values as we nurtured our outside by brushing the leaves and cleaning our most loved areas. We discussed how important it is to respect and care for our classroom environment and we did this with so much pride. We had so much fun taking part in continuous provision activities outside to enhance our learning throughout the week. We are so excited to explore the sunshine even more as the summer months begin!
Date: 21st Mar 2024 @ 10:30am

As the half term draws closer, let us take a look at some of this week’s highlights…
Coming to the end of our RE topic, we summarised the key Christian values of trust and forgiveness making the connection that Christians believe that they can trust Jesus. We recalled the events of Holy Week and Easter, before remembering incidents of betrayal in the Easter story, through the actions of Judas and in movies we like to watch.
It was time to start our story writing in English, to create our own versions of our focus text ‘When the Giant Stirred’. We began by planning the opening, build up, problem, resolution and ending to our stories and noting any dialogue we would expect our characters to have in each part of our story. We ensured we thought about the possible fronted adverbials we could use to help set the scene or time of day events were taking place and how we could use a range of nouns to make our writing more exciting to read. Each day, we ensured we wrote a chunk of our story to form a paragraph so our stories went on a slow and steady, yet detailed journey, from start to end.
This week in Maths, we have explored how to find fractions of given quantities or amounts using bar models to help us understand how many parts the number is split into and what amount is within each part. We then identified tenths on a place value chart and began to understand tenths as a decimal and fraction, noting the jump on the place value chart when we divide a one-digit number by 10 or 100.
Within our Guided Reading story ‘Ariki and the Island of Wonders’, Ariki is a young girl bored with her interminable lessons on waves and constellations. We were shocked by Ariki’s feelings towards learning about constellations, as we find them pretty cool.
We continue to shine in Mrs McArdle’s clarinet lessons! We now understand how to construct our clarinets and are building speed in doing so, the sounds we are producing are becoming more of a perfected tone and we are even incorporating a range of notes by moving our finger position on the instrument. Our History lessons have also been packed full of evidence hunting, as we focused on the push and pull factors that show reasoning for Saxon settlement and we uncovered the mystery of the empty grave in Sutton Hoo. This week we delved deeper into the story of how Christianity to Britain and it took about 70 years for English kings to give up pagan ways and become Christian.
There was only one way to end the week… with an Easter Egg Hunt! On the sound of the horn, we set off finding tokens around the school to exchange for an Easter treat!
Before we take on the last week, Year 4, have a wonderful weekend!
Date: 21st Mar 2024 @ 10:23am

Another busy week in Year 6!
In Maths, Mr King’s group have been revising how to find the perimeter and area of compound shapes, as well as how to find the area of triangles and parallelograms. Mrs Martin’s group have been focusing on angles – particularly how to use angles in terms of direction.
As scientists, we celebrated British Science Week and Brain Awareness Week by learning about the brain and how it can change over time. We learned that neurons are cells in the brain, which send signals within the brain and throughout our body. The signals tell us what to do, like to drink when we’re thirsty. We learned how groups of neurons make connections with each other when we learn something and how over time, our brains changed based on our experiences. We then drew these growing connections that are collectively known as the ‘connectome’. In our Reading sessions, we also learned about a range of scientists: Marie Maynard Daly, Charles Darwin and Alan Turing.
In Geography, we have been exploring the natural resources that are available on Earth and how they are distributed. There has been some lively debate about whether using non-renewable resources just because they are widely available at the moment or moving over to renewable resources, even if it is initially very expensive, is the best way to go. We have also looked at the impact on the environment of the choices made about which resources to use and it is fair to say that we have some strong opinions (and wonder why the generation in charge of decision making do not see things so clearly!).
PE has seen us continue with our yoga and swimming sessions while our Spanish lesson involved an assessment to see how much we have remembered over the last half-term.
To conclude the week, the children enjoyed taking part in their annual, 'Easter Egg Hunt'. This once again saw them running around the school grounds on the hunt for ticket numbers - which corresponded to eggs back in class. The even was also compèred by two rather large 'chicks'!
The children are aware of their homework for this week and their weekly spellings have been set on Google Classroom as usual. Please do also encourage your child to also work through the practice assessments set on SATs Companion.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Well done Nursery another busy week!
This week the children enjoyed their ‘Godly Play’ session with Caroline. She talked to the children about Holy week and the meaning of Easter and they listened to the Easter story. A big thank you to Caroline for all you do and the children have thoroughly enjoyed you visiting. We are all very much looking forward to our Easter WOW service next week, don’t forget your Easter Bonnets!
We have continued to enjoy learning about Spring and new life, so you can only imagine how excited they were when on Monday three Lambs came to join us in our outdoor area for the day. The children were able to observe and feed them and they listened to two of the children who talked to us all about the lambs that live on their farm. The children have also enjoyed talking about when they have visited a farm and what they saw there. We have also played a game of guess the baby, where the children have had to match the different animals to their babies!
Well done Nursery!

Where does the time go? The penultimate week of this half term and the weeks keep on flying!
In Maths, we have been focused on data and statistics. We have had a particular focus on interpreting line graphs and bar charts and have enjoyed practising this via Blooket games too. Next week’s Maths will be Easter themed and will involve plenty of problem solving activities.
In our RE learning, we learned about the ‘Stations of the Cross’ which, traditionally, is fourteen separate pictures which represent Jesus’ last day on earth. This connected well with our Easter focus and the children learned about how the stations serve to represent the footsteps that Jesus had walked. We used this learning to create our own virtual version of the Stations of the Cross using Google Slides.
It was time to begin writing our biographies in our English lessons. We have been busy of researching Chris Hadfield, one of the most accomplished astronauts of all time and the first Canadian commander of the International Space Station. We will add the final touches next week before recording in our Author Books!
An eggcellent end to our week involved the Year 5 & 6 Easter Egg Hunt! The children had to search the school grounds for a ticket to trade for a prize. Great fun was had and two Easter chicks made an appearance too and led a rendition (actually, many renditions) of 'The Birdie Song'!
With that, another week reaches a close. See you after the weekend for the final week of this term!
Reminders:
-The KS2 Easter Service (led by Year 3) will be at St. Peter’s Church at 9:20am on Thursday 28th March.
-Thursday 28th March is the end of term and a 1:00pm finish.

Another busy week here in Year 3!
We marked British Science Week by learning all about the wonders of biodegradable plastic. Did you know that every plastic bag you have ever seen still exists? This is because plastic takes many years to decompose; this causes pollution in the sea and on land. We had a fantastic time making environmentally friendly plastic from simple household ingredients.
In Maths, we have been getting to grips with bar charts. We began by interpreting bar charts and making links to their knowledge of pictograms. Although we have come across block diagrams in Year 2, it is the first time that we have used bar charts, so we took extra care to ensure we understood the scales.
We continued with our non-fiction story ‘The Big Blue Whale’ in English. We used our knowledge of fronted adverbials and paragraphs to draft information in preparation for our leaflets. Next week, we will start drafting our final fact files and leaflets ready for our author books in the final week.
In Guided Reading, we continued reading ‘The Morning I Met a Whale’ we were shocked to learn the negative effects humans have on the ocean. We discussed what we already know about why whales are endangered. and why would anyone hunt a whale? We also clarified some new vocabulary we read in the text: blubber, baleen plates, harpoon and fleet.
We continue to work hard for our upcoming Easter service. The children have been learning their lines and their singing sounds fantastic.
Have a wonderful and restful weekend Year 3!
Date: 13th Mar 2024 @ 5:00pm

Well done Nursery another busy week!
This week we have been celebrating British Science week, the theme for this year is ‘Time’. We began by talking to the children about what time means to them and how do they tell the time. We talked about how time affects every part of our lives, we decided to learn a little more about growing seeds and watching how they grow over time. The children took some time to look at the seeds before we planted them and discussed what the seeds needed to help them grow. What a great time we had planting and now look forward to watching our seeds grow.
As it is Brain Awareness week, we have enjoyed learning all about the brain. We discussed where the brain is located, what we need a brain for and how we keep our brain healthy. We then had lots of fun making a brain headband to remind us of the fascinating facts we have learnt.
We have also started to think abut Spring and new life, the children were interested in animals and their young and particularly animals on a farm. We spent some time discussing the different animals and what they call their young for example cow and calf, sheep and lambs. We are hoping to have a visit from some lambs in a few weeks.
Well done Nursery!

We had a very powerful and emotional assembly this week led by the ‘Know Knife Crime’ charity, which is based in Crosby and set up in honour of Colin McGinty. His sister, Laura, led the assembly and shared Colin’s story, before sharing some statistics about knife crime and explaining how over 80 schools – including Trinity St. Peter’s – will be fundraising next month so that every school can have its own bleed control kit. Further information regarding this has been shared on School Spider.
As mathematicians, the children in Mr King’s group have been learning about pie charts and solving a range of problems linked to these. Mrs Martin’s group have been focusing on shape and measurement – particularly how to find the volume of a 3D shape.
The children were very excited to start their swimming lessons on Wednesday. Although the first session required some time to be dedicated to initial assessments, we were still able to practise our freestyle and swim quite a few lengths in a short space of time – well done! Tuesday’s PE lesson saw us continuing with our yoga sessions, which is providing good respite from all our hard work in class.
We finished our most recent class novel this week: 'The Final Year' by Matt Goodfellow. It was a very powerful book that stirred a lot of emotion from the class. Reflecting on the novel afterwards, the vast majority selected this as their favourite class book so far - surpassing 'Holes', which had been the story they had enjoyed the most up until this point.
Finally, the children took part in Picture News' webinar on ‘protected characteristics’. It was fantastic to see the children sharing so much about what they already knew on this topic and connecting back to previous lessons / conversations we had.
The children are aware of their homework for this week and their weekly spellings have been set on Google Classroom as usual. Please do also encourage your child to also work through the practice assessments set on SATs Companion.
Have a good weekend, everyone!
Date: 13th Mar 2024 @ 1:25pm

WOW! Reception you we are so proud of how amazing you are all doing!
On Thursday we celebrated British Science Week, this year the theme was ‘time’. Reception created their own four seasons painting to show how the weather changes over time across the year. We first discussed what differences we would notice in each season and then discussed how we could show this on our painting using different colours and textures. What amazing art work everyone!
As it is Brain Awareness week, we have enjoyed learning all about the brain. We discussed where the brain is located, what we need a brain for and how we keep our brain healthy. We the found links to our school values of ‘Hope’ and ‘Imagine’. This then lead onto a conversation about how to keep our bodies healthy and why sleep is so important. We then talked about our night time routine and why each step is important for example, brushing our teeth.
On Friday we were lucky to be joined by Emma from ‘Tappy toes’ for a fantastic dance session which linked to our current PE topic. The children had so much fun! Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and see you all next week!

We have had another fun filled week in Year 1!
We began our week with another DT lesson as we put our skills into practice. We used our understanding of cutting and joining together materials to create our very own puppets. We were so excited to bring our designs to life! We tried really hard to use our cutting and sticking skills, taking care when assembling our puppets. We were so impressed with the finished result, and are looking forward to decorating their faces next week!
In Maths this week we have continued with our Place Value topic as we started to partition numbers within 50. We explored the meaning of tens and ones and used part whole models to partition the numbers into tens and ones, we tried very hard to understand this new concept and used base 10 to physically partition bigger numbers. We practiced number formation as we focused on the place of each number, understanding that the tens come first, followed by the ones. We then worked on a number line to 50, as we used our estimation skills again and built upon our understanding of numbers within 50. This helped us to focus on one more and one less later on in the week, by using base 10 to represent tens and ones, we created one more and one less than various numbers within 50.
This week in Geography we explored another continent, this time it was the breathtakingly beautiful Africa! We specially focused on Kenya, taking a close look at the features of the country. We looked at the language, and practised some phrases ourselves. We then discussed the natural features of Kenya such as Lake Victoria, and the Savannah Grasslands. We were extremely impressed by the wonderful variety of wildlife, we explored characteristics of the animals and described them by drawing and writing each animal most distinctive features.
To celebrate British Science Week, we acted as super Scientists in order to complete an extra special experiment. We used plastic bottles to create our very own water gauges! By cutting the bottles and sticking a rain gauge scale down each bottle. We acted as meteorologists as we predicted and measured the amount of rainfall we get each day. This years British Science Week theme is Time, we used this within our experiment as we measured the rainfall over a specific period of time. We used a rainfall graph to record our findings for each day, using mm as our unit of measurement. We had a great time acting as real meteorologists, and cannot wait to compare our findings next week!
Well done on another fantastic week Year 1!
Date: 13th Mar 2024 @ 9:10am
A week of reflecting about the power of the brain this week in Year 4 and reminding ourselves just how creative and critical we can be.
In RE, we focused on Peter’s denial and Jesus’ forgiveness. We questioned why Peter betrayed Jesus and the denial he showed in the courtyard. We the importance of forgiving others and why Jesus encourages forgiveness too.
Focusing on the thoughts, feelings and dialogue one of the villagers may be experiencing in our story, we created a Bridge map with the support of some fantastic villagers in our classroom room, roleplaying the role to support our writing. We deduced from a given text different spelling, punctuation and grammar elements that should be present in our writing and looked at the power of using different nouns/noun phrases to enhance our writing.
Continuing our focus on fractions, we unpicked different ways to represent a mixed fraction and how in turn, it shows an improper fraction. Then our focus shifted to adding and subtracting a fraction with the same denominator before securing our understanding using the Learning by Questions website. Next week, we will begin to develop an awareness of decimals and their relationship with fractions.
To acknowledge Brain Awareness Week, we looked into our own brains by creating Brain Hats. Placing the hats on our heads, we were able to look at both sides of the brain to help us recognise its essential functions, as well as how the different lobes support us every day. We also reflected on our thinking maps, thinking hats and unique 4C model with focus on how these tools we have in school support us with our learning and enable our brains to create deeper thinking.
To celebrate British Science Week, we became engineers and made our very own pendulum timers. We experimented how to measure time using the pendulums and explored ways to slow the pendulum down and speed it up. We also entered the annual, UK-wide poster competition. We used our creativity to design a poster surrounding the concept of time. Our posters illustrated what time means to use and how it relates to our British Science Week activity.
Red nose filled the classroom on Friday as we completed lots of fun and games – all with a red theme – in aid of Red Nose Day. It was our mission to ensure we came together to raise smiles in recognition of helping others through tough times in their lives. We should did have the best afternoon!
Have a wonderful weekend, Year 4!
Date: 12th Mar 2024 @ 10:04am

Another brilliant school week is in the bag as this half term continues to tick on by!
As Ramadan (the ninth month of the Islamic calendar) began on Monday, we discussed in class what this means for Muslims, both within this country and across the world. As Ramadan has such special significance in Islam and is a month of fasting, we heard from different children across the UK who will be fasting in school and how their days will be adapted as a result. We also made links to well-known Muslims, such as Mo Salah, who will also be observing Ramadan alongside the job of being a professional footballer. Our Ramadan discussions linked closely to our Collective Worship monthly value of ‘Sacrifice’.
In Maths, we have worked incredibly hard whilst tackling some assessments that will check our understanding of the learning that we have encountered this year so far. Next week, we will move onto statistics and interpreting bar charts, pictograms and tables.
We were also delighted to receive some goodies from Sumdog, a Maths app that the children love to use in school to support and supplement their Maths learning. Following the previous success of the children in the regional Sumdog competition and their engagement with the app, representatives at Sumdog were keen to express their thanks with some merchandise that were gratefully received (as you can tell in the above picture). Thank you to them!
In Science, we have been busy completing various experiments during the last few weeks as we focus on ‘working scientifically’ through exploring ideas and raising different kinds of questions; selecting and planning the most appropriate type of scientific enquiry to use to answer scientific questions; recognising when and how to set up comparative and fair tests and explaining which variables need to be controlled and why. A particularly fun experiment involved investigating the density of different liquids. We learned how liquids float upon liquids of a higher density and sink through liquids of lower density. The children had a great time making their predictions, testing it out and then analysing their results.
So another great week comes to an end and the weekend awaits. See you all on Monday!
Date: 11th Mar 2024 @ 4:56pm

Where did that week go? Another fantastic week here in Year 2, well done everyone!
On Monday, we had the wonderful Miss Dilworth support our learning of the opera, The Magic Flute. We have loved listening to, and learning the various songs, creating our own interpretations using a modern twist. As well as this, the incredible Ms McCardle was in teaching us how to play the recoder with accuracey and confidence. We cannot wait to show you all our interpretation of 'Hot Cross Buns' although, we are sure you have heard us practice!
In Maths, we continued to explore our topic, Measurement. We continued to carefully measure a range of classroom items. After, we compared them using words and symbols ensuring we used the correct mathematical language; shorter, longer, taller and equal. We soon discovered that measuring accurately was a lot harder than it looked but recognised the importance of this skill.
In History, we learnt all about the wonderful Queen Elizabeth II, a monach from our life time. We learnt about her family history and some of the different challenges she faced over the years such as the world war as a princess! I think we can all agree that this is one of our favourite lessons each week.
On Friday, we completed a range of computing lessons. We started by first desigining and writing our own story before using a variety of apps to replicate it. To help us, we used our favouite story (some from world book day last week) carefully writing the sequal to it! Who knew we had so many authors in class? After, we used the internet to insert pictures to make our story come to life.
As well as this, on Friday, we marked Red Nose Day, carefully discussing its importance and the reason as to why people still fundraise all these years later. We all agreed that fundraising is key to support people in our country and abroad.
Have a wonderful, restful weekend!
Reminders
- On Monday the children in Year 2 will be taught in the portable cabin, please can the children be dropped of at the ramp at 8:40am.
- Recorders need to be in school each Monday.
- Log books need to be in school each Monday.
- PE continues to be on a Monday and a Thursday.
Date: 11th Mar 2024 @ 4:41pm

What an incredibly busy week we have had full of incredible events!
In Maths, we started our new topic, Measurment. We started by recapping our previous learning, carefully using rulers to measure given items ensuring we started on zero. We will continue to explore measurement over the next few weeks.
This week, the children have worked incredibly hard to complete assessments to showcase their learning so far this year. Our school value of Hope was certainly achieved by all, as they tried their best and were determined to complete their assessments to the best of their ability
On Thursday, we saw stories brought to life as part of World Book Day. It was wonderful to see so many fantastic charcters and costumes in class with a love for reading shining through. The teachers of course got involved, creating a fun an interactive 'Masked Reader' competion. As a class, we carefully looked for clues as to who the reader was and also, what they were reading, it was a lot harder than we thought (even for the teachers in class!). We loved completing a series of activities throughout the day and loved creating our own scrapbooks about our characters.
On Friday, we recognise International Women's Day by first recognising several inspirational women from past, and present, disucssing their contribuitions to society and their impact on our lives today such as Michelle Obama, the first black first lady, and Marie Curie, the pioneer of radiation and x-rays as we know them. After, we created bouqets for the inspirational women in our life, at school and home.
As well as this, we celebrated British Science Week, by creating our own biodegradable plastic. Working together, we mixed a series of everyday products together before Miss Jones carefully heated it. We watched as the opaque liquid turned translucent. After, we poured into on a plate to cool over the weekend. We cannot wait to see how it turns out!

This week has been full of determination. We could not be any prouder of all our Year 3 children as they have shown true resilience and perseverance whilst completing Maths, Reading and Writing assessments. Amazing work Year 3!
To kick start National Careers Week at school. We took part in a quiz to guess what jobs the staff at TSP had before they joined our school. We loved discovering all the different and exciting career routes our staff had before joining our TSP family.
In Maths, we created a shop to help us understand how change is given. It wasn’t as simple as we first thought but we soon got to grips with it Well done Year 3! Next week, we will begin statistics.
We continued learning about the River Nile during our Geography lesson this week. We worked hard to find the positive and negative effects of the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile. Each table worked together to gather as much evidence as they could about the dam, focusing on what was good and what was bad. Once the evidence was gathered the children role played a conscious alley to support their side of the argument.
A definite highlight of the week was World Book Day, where all children and staff put an astounding effort into their costumes. It was wonderful to see how so many characters from our favourite books were brought to life. The classroom filled with laughter as we took on the challenge of discovering who the Masked Reader was. We looked for clues and listened carefully to the words as each masked reader read from a different book. Using the ‘Book Creator’ app, we created our books about our hobbies or things we our interested in. We had so much fun sharing them once completed.
In recognition of International Women’s Day, we delved into researching three inspiring women from the past and present. We then created a poster to show the identified key characteristics that all three women had in common these included bravery, ambition, empowerment and determination.
We continue to work hard practising for our upcoming Easter service. We are so excited to show you all very soon.
Have a restful weekend and we look forward to seeing all your smiling faces on Monday.

What a busy week it has been!
To begin, it has been National Careers Week this week, which provided a good opportunity for the children to discuss their aspirations for the future. We talked about long-term and short-term goals and how some of us may even have jobs in our teenage years and why this might be. We then took part in a rather amusing activity of guessing the previous jobs of members of staff at Trinity St. Peter’s. There was some very interesting rationale behind some of the guesses! By the end of the task though, we realised that in most cases, we couldn’t make accurate guesses about teachers’ previous jobs as factors such as gender and age do not matter.
As part of our RE learning, we attended St. Peter’s Church on Wednesday morning to attend a Eucharist Service. We learned more about why Christians gather at this service and the symbolism of the bread and wine. We were then able to connect this with our current topic back in class.
The children were very excited for World Book Day on Thursday and this was certainly reflected in their book costumes! Well done to all the pupils and their parents for a fantastic effort. Throughout the day, our Year 6 pupils took part in a range of activities: from a ‘book’ themed Spanish lesson to being part of the virtual audience for Trinity St. Peter’s inaugural Masked Reader! As The Big Bad Wolf had gone into hiding in the Year 6 classroom, the children’s English lesson involved them reading, ‘The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs’ by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith and learning how The Big Bad Wolf felt that he was the real victim in this tale. The children were then asked to become lawyers in Fairytale Court and to write up a defence statement for The Big Bad Wolf against Little Red Riding Hood to present to the rest of the class. There were some very creative ideas!
We are very lucky that this half-term, we will be taking part in yoga sessions every Tuesday afternoon with Sefton Active. The children had their first session this week and - during their post-session reflection – noted how calm and relaxed they felt afterwards. Hopefully, this will be a very rewarding experience for our pupils and a hobby they may wish to continue in the future.
A special 'thank you' to our two work experience students (and ex-TSP pupils!) who have been in class helping all week. They have provided lots of support to the Year 6 children!
Reminder: swimming lessons will commence from next Wednesday. Please refer back to the messages sent to parents on School Spider.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

In RE this week we learnt that a parable is a story told by Jesus to help us to know how to live our lives. We listened to a parable called ‘The sower’ and talked about how Jesus wants us to be with one another. We discussed that the hidden message was that that the seed that the sower was planting in the story represents the teachings of God's Word. We then planted our own seeds in class to watch them grow.
In Forest school this week, the children used the magnifying glasses to have a close look at the bark on the trees. We discovered that some trees were smooth and some were rough and bumpy. The children then worked in pairs to complete some bark rubbings. Well done everyone!
On Thursday the children all dressed up as their favourite book characters for world book day. The children walked down the catwalk to show off their amazing costumes and we talked about what our favourite book is and why. We were joined by our Year 6 buddies to enjoy our favourite stories together and then held our own puppet show. What a fun day we have had!
On Friday we marked international women’s day and talked about the importance of celebrating the amazing women in our lives. We read a lovely story called ‘Girls can do anything’ and discussed why it is important for everyone to be treated equally.
We have continued our theme of Animals around the world and this week we have looked at South America. We first located South America on the map and then looked at the different animals that are found there. We looked at the different habitats and thought about why we don’t see the same animals in the wild in the UK.

WOW! What a wonderful week we have had in Year 1. We enjoyed lots of excitement this week due to World Book Day. I absolutely loved seeing you all dressed up as your favourite characters!
We began our week with an inspiring lesson on Careers. We shared our understanding of careers and what different careers our families have. We were all so proud to discuss the special jobs our families do. We then had a go at drawing some examples of people doing various jobs, such as a doctor, a teacher, a policeman and nurse. We were amazed as we discussed the stereotypes within such careers, we had some fantastic ideas about equality and were able to understand that both women and men can do any career they wish.
In Geography we explored our next continent, this week we focused on Australia! We loved looking at the fantastic features of the beautiful continent. We discovered that Australia has a huge variety of thigs to do, such a visiting Bondi Beach, the Sydney Opera House, and the Great Barrier Reef. We had a look at some of the weird and wonderful sea creatures that live in the Great Barrier Reef, we couldn’t believe the variety of animals!
We took part in an exciting Science experiment this week as we tested our super senses! We explored Linda Buck and what she discovered about senses. We discussed which body parts are associates with each sense and then used our sense of smell to identify and compare some scents! We worked in groups to identify a variety of scents and shared our ideas in order to compare the different smells. We then had a go at sorting the smells on a chart to present our findings.
The highlight of this week was definitely World Book Day! We had so much fun coming to school in character. We took part in lots of different activities based around one of our class favourites, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! We have loved reading this story so far, and enjoyed immersing ourselves in all things Chocolate as we created our own character descriptions, designed our very own sweets and much more. Don't forget to have a look at our Year 1 twitter account to see all of our fantastic photos from this week!
You all looked wonderful! Thank you very much for all of your support! We all had the most amazing day thanks to your hard work! I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

A week full of determination to achieve and a positive outlook towards all of our learning tasks this week… even if we did have a test or two to complete.
This week, the children have worked incredibly hard to complete assessments to showcase their learning so far this year. Our school value of Hope was certainly achieved by all, as they tried their best and were determined to complete their assessments to the best of their ability.
To kick start National Careers Week, we took part in a quiz to guess what jobs the staff at TSP had before they joined the school. We realised that lots of our staff took many different routes before joining the TSP family.
In Collective Worship, we discussed how sometimes people do and say things that hurt us and how it can be difficult when someone has hurt us to forgive. Using the analogy of a fizzing vitamin tablet, we dropped a tablet into a bottle of water. As it fizzed away, we let the hurt feelings go and imagined forgiving the person as the hurt disappeared. We then reflected on how it feels to forgive others and the relief it brings to our hearts and mind.
Thinking about how we represent a new speaker when writing speech, we created a conversation between the villagers in our story ‘When the giant stirred’, reinforcing our knowledge of how to write speech and also adding the addition of a new line for a new speaker. Next week, we will look at how we can incorporate expanded noun phrases and front adverbials into our writing, alongside speech sentences.
Our Maths lessons have helped us to understand how to add and subtract fractions when the denominator is the same and how convert a improper fraction into a mixed number. Next week, we will start to explore decimals and what fraction and decimal amount are equivalent.
In recognition of International Women’s Day, we delved into books from the Little People, Big Dreams Series to find shared characteristics of inspiring women in history, politics, music, arts, design, science, and sports. Characteristics we identified included bravery, ambition and empowerment.
We were amazed by the incredible costumes on show as we celebrated World Book Day on Thursday. It was a joy to see how so many characters from our favourite books were brought to life… some personalists and characteristics were also portrayed too! What a thrill as we took on the challenge of discovering who the Masked Reader was, hidden behind the mask. With our critical eyes at the ready, we looked for clues and distinguished the book being read by listening carefully to the words and characters heards. We also participated in a book bingo, hunting for books in the class libraries across school to cross of our bingo cards. Books we had to find included one with a dragon, a book with a green cover and a poetry book. We definitely left on Thursday night with an increased loved for reading and an eagerness to delve into new books we discovered during the day.
We hope that you make the most of your weekend, Year 4 and we look forward to seeing you again on Monday!

Oh, what a fabulous time we are having in Nursery!
We are continuing to thoroughly enjoy our Forest school, this week we enjoyed a little bit of free time to explore outdoor area. The children quickly noticed how a lot of new flowers had started to grow and were particularly interested in the feel of the bark the trees and how it all felt different, the children were able to use some great language to describe how the tree bark felt.
We have also spent some time talking about Mother’s Day and the special women in our lives linked to ‘International Women’s day’. The children spent some time talking about why they love the special women in their life and why we celebrate Mother’s Day. We hope you all have a fabulous day on Sunday and spend some time relaxing!
Thursday was World Book Day; the children looked fantastic in their costumes - well done everyone! The children were treated to a performance of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ from the Nursery team, the children really enjoyed Trinity theatre and having snack while watching the show.
