What an inspiring week here, in Year 3.
This week we marked National Careers Week at school. To start this off, Year 3 had a fantastic visit, over zoom, from Dr Meera, who described her path into the extremely difficult world of Medicine. We were given a whistle stop tour on Meera’s long and gruelling education journey as well as difficulties faced by her predecessors as part of International Women’s Day. We loved asking intriguing questions and it certainly made us think carefully about a career in Medicine. Our inspirational talks didn’t stop there, at the end of the week we had a visit from two incredible police officers PC Callum and PC Laura from Merseyside Police. Both officers shared an insight into the police force, sharing stories, one involving a very pesky sheep! PC Laura shared some insights into the profession for women, and we were shocked to learn that when she joined the force, she was expected to wear a skirt and was given less equipment that her make counter parts. We were pleased to learn that nowadays; women make up just under 50% of the police force in Merseyside. We were also amazed to learn that the first warranted female officer, Edith Smith, was born and raised not far from us in Runcorn. Both visits left us feeling truly inspired and allowed us to have incredible discussions about our futures.
Most of our Maths, Writing and Reading lessons have been taken up by practice assessments this week. The children have shown true determination and resilience when approaching these assessments and I could not be prouder of them!
In English, we continued to explore our non-fiction text, The Big Blue Whale, writing our information in paragraphs, using subheadings and a range of literacy features including prepositions, adjectives, and adverbs, with a special focus on front adverbials, to make our writing more interesting. However, we had to take care to ensure that our writing stayed factual to ensure that it we did not turn it into a story. Next week, we will continue to develop our non-fiction writing.
In Maths, we took our learning outside to help us dive headfirst into our topic of measurement. We took time to draw and measure a range of lines, drawn by chalk, in cm. We then took time to convert these measurements into mm. We had to take care to ensure we measured our lines carefully, ensuring we lined up our rulers accurately.
In RE, we took time to explore the first part the Easter story, Palm Sunday. We learnt how Jesus travelled to Jerusalem on a donkey and the significance of people laying their clothes and palm leaves and his feet. After, we investigated how Christians from around the world celebrate Palm Sunday.
In Geography, we used our atlases to identify various countries within Europe on a map as well as the surrounding seas. We loved using our index and contents pages to find key country names provided us with extra information.
Reminders:
-Weekly spellings are set every Friday and tested in school the following Thursday.
-Please ensure your child is reading daily at home. Should your child be struggling to find a book at home they wish to read, they can borrow a book from the school library.

What an incredible week, filled with laughter and joy!
How could we not start by discussing ‘World Book Day’? The children looked incredible when they arrived at school in their outstanding costumes, which of course, filled the classroom with a wonderful buzz. When they arrived however, the children were met with a rather perplexing mystery, the crayons had quit and they were not coming back without our help! The children spent the morning completing a series of challenges set by individual crayons to help restore the pack! Afterwards, they took part in a fantastic game of ‘The Masked Character!’ It was truly a fantastic day.
In Maths, we finished off our topic on Statistics, completing a series of activities surrounding bar charts, both drawing them and answering questions. Afterwards, we began our topic on ‘measurement’ completing a ‘Teach Active’ lesson, connecting our learning back to Year 2 and reminding ourselves of the importance of lining up the ruler carefully.
In English, we continued to investigate our book ‘The Big Blue Whale’. We started the week by discussing what we thought the two characters in our book would be saying to each other, creating speech sandwiches as they went through the book. Later in the week, we created our own poems about various sea creatures, ensuring each poem started with a command and used a range of similes. Next week, we will complete our assessments in SPAG, Reading and Spellings.
In Science, we completed another exciting experiment, this time looking at water transportation in plants. We explored, using water and food dye, how water transports up celery through its veins.
In Geography, we connected our learning back to KS1 and revisited the 7 continents and 5 oceans in our work. After, we used our atlases to identify and answer questions about the continent of Europe. Next week, we will investigate the continent of Europe in more detail.
Music was again, a hit! Mr Fogg truly knows how to get us going and this week we continued to practice the ‘Encanto’ theme tune. It was quite tricky, but we persevered, and the result was well worth the effort.
In PE we continued to focus on our new topic football. We revisited our dribbling skills and developed our passing, working in small groups to accurately pass the ball. Mr Brindley continued this effort (even with all the excitement of ‘World Book Day’) and ensured we had a fun, interactive and competitive football session.
This week we said goodbye to the fantastic Mr Ahmed who has been supporting us in class over the past few weeks, we wish him the best of luck in all his endeavours.
Reminders
- Next Monday we will be having an additional dance session, please ensure children are in their PE kits.

What an incredibly busy first week back, full of excitement!
When we arrived at school on Monday, we experienced a range of unusual sounds. Working together, we discussed and identified that the sound was coming from a school of whales and were amazed how they communicated. After, we explored the front cover of our first story, ‘The Morning I Met a Whale’ by Michael Murphurgo, we predicted what we thought the story was going to be about as well as its genre and book type. Before we started to read, we decided we wanted to learn more about whales, writing detailed letters to experts to find out more information. These incredible letters were so detailed that we decided that they must go in our author book! Next week we switch books for a short period looking at the ‘Big Blue Whale’ by Nicola Davies.
We also focused on this text in our Reading sessions, exploring the interesting vocabulary within the text and how the author used this to create suspense and an interesting narrative. We compared this fictional story to an interesting article about three whales that got stuck in the River Thames. We focused on our comprehension skills in this session, retrieving information from the text.
In Science, we started our new topic ‘How does your garden grown?’ We explored real life flowering plants, pulling them apart, labelling and describing their different parts and functions. We then applied this knowledge, creating our own flowering plants in our books and labelling it accordingly. Next week, we will be focusing on water transportation in plants and how it travels from the roots to the flower.
In Maths, we started our new topic ‘Statistics’, we connected our learning back to Year 2, recapping tallies and pictograms. This allowed us to create our own pictogram tables to gather information about everyone in class, such as our favourite game, food and colour. Next week we will explore bar charts as well as starting another topic, ‘Measurement’, with a special focus on length and height.
In PE, we were super excited to start our new sport, Football! We started off by developing our basic football skills dribbling and passing the balls to our friends. With Mr Brindley, we continued this focus and even managed to play a small game! It was, as always, incredibly competitive and it is safe to say football is a firm favourite in Year 3.
We explored the world map in Geography, reminding ourselves of the 7 continents and 5 oceans connecting our learning back to KS1. Afterwards, we identified where we were in the world and how we belonged to the continent of Europe. We then used our atlases and Chromebooks to create a poster about a country in Europe. Next week, we look at Europe in more detail, the countries that belong to it and their features.
Mr Fogg was back this week for another incredible drumming lesson, it has been, and always will be, one of our favourite lessons. We continued to work together to develop our tempo and rhythm to create a fantastic piece. We cannot wait to see how we will develop over the next five weeks!
In RE, we started our new topic, ‘Exploring the Sadness and Joy of Easter’. We had to first identify where the Easter story fell within the bible and also in relation to ‘The Big Frieze’. We identified that the Easter story related to the ‘Salvation’ part the ‘Big Frieze’. This linked closely to our Collective Worship focus of ‘Joy’ and allowed us to fill our own jars full of joy thinking carefully about everything and everyone who brings us happiness.
This week we also celebrated some amazing superstars in our class, both linked to our February climate change focus. One of our wonderful students took part in a creative writing competition hosted by Planet Super League and the author Dan Freedman. I am delighted to say that they won receiving a signed copy of Dan Freedman’s new Jamie Johnson book. As well as this, our other superstar, interviewed Jen Gale, author of ‘Sustainable(ish)’ discussing what she is doing and how others can tackle climate change.
Reminders:
- World Book Day will be next Thursday. Children are encouraged to come dressed as a character from their favourite story.
- Next Thursday, children will need to bring in their PE kits to allow them to participate in PE with FHS.
- Please ensure that any books that the children read at home are recorded on Google Classroom.

What an incredible last week of half term! I think we are all in need of a restful week off!
This has certainly been jam-packed and full of excitement. Monday was computing day here in Year 3, we completed a series of tasks aimed at developing our literacy and research skills. First, we looked at the word copyright, and learnt that not all images can be used without the creator’s permission. Selecting our images carefully, and focusing on our topic rainforest, we designed and created a book about the various rainforests in varying formats. On Monday afternoon, we looked at how we can keep ourselves safe on the internet and discussed the dangers that might present themselves online. We then created posters both on paper and virtually, to share with other classes in the school.
Tuesday was equally exciting…it was school trip day! We had an amazing day Liverpool World Museum. At the Museum we took part in our ‘Meet the Mummy’ workshop learning all about mummification and the different process involved, safe to say we are glad we weren’t around in Ancient Egyptian period! Afterwards, we explore the Egyptian exhibition absorbing as much information as possible. We stored all this incredible knowledge for Friday, building on it by taking part in an epic History afternoon!
Our creative juices continued to flow for the rest of the week, where in English, we wrote, edited and perfected our own versions of ‘The Stone Age Boy’. We carefully added them to our author books, taking our time to carefully illustrate the pages to reflect our new stories.
In Maths, we finished off our topic on money, solving addition and subtraction problems involving change. After half term we will be exploring statistics.
In Science, we finished of our topic on light by completing an investigation involving mirrors. Using torch light and several mirrors, we created our own mirror mazes as well as discovering the history if mirrors.
Mr Fogg was back with another sensational music lesson. It is safe to say that music is a firm favourite in this class, especially when Miss Jones isn’t singing! We were again practicing the Avengers theme tune this week, developing our pace and ensuring we worked in unison to produce a clear beat.
Rounders was a ‘hit’ again this week, with a special focus on batting this week. We focused on our body position and grip on the bat, ensuring a hard, clear hit. This allowed us to play a full game of rounders, with excellent batting and fielding skills from everyone.
We were yet again inspired to pick up a book this week when we were visited by the fantastic Luke Temple, author of books such as ‘Ghost Post’ and ‘Albert and the Giant Squid’. With a hilarious and interactive session, he had us on the edge of our seats, eager to find out more about not only his stories, but how to get into writing.
Love Reading have launched their 'top book picks' for this month. More, highly-rated children's reads, from a variety of authors for different age ranges, are shared with us all to enjoy.
Reminders
- Year 3 PE days will remain the same for next half term, children should come to school dressed in their kits on Wednesday’s and Thursday.
- Girls should have their hair tied back.
- Please record, when and what your child is reading at home on Google Classroom in the Online Reading area.

What another fun and action-packed week here in Year 3!
This week has been full of interesting and exciting events and opportunities for learning. As part of National Story Telling Week and Climate Coalition month, the Year 3 children took part in a fun and interactive zoom call with ‘Dan Freedman’ the author of the ‘Jamie Johnson’ and the ‘Unstoppable’ series. We were lucky enough to have one of our questions answered by Dan, asking him what Jamie was going to do to tackle climate change in his next book.
We also had two major celebrations this week, Chinese New Year and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. For Chinese New Year, we created our own dragons from paper plates and explored what animal we belonged too. To mark the Queen’s Jubilee, we designed and created our own bunting in preparation for our celebrations in June.
In English, we started to plan our own version of the story ‘The Stone Age Boy’. We thought carefully about where and how our new character would end up in the Stone Age as well as our problem and resolution. At the end of the week, we used our plans to begin writing our new stories. The children ensured their writing was to a high standard by adding in adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions throughout. We cannot wait to finish them next week and add them to our author books!
In Maths, we have been getting money mad here in Year 3! Recapping the value of coins and notes, adding them together to create set amounts. It took some of us a little while to remember to add those pesky symbols but by the end of the week we had all cracked it. Next week, we will continue to develop this knowledge, answering more complex money related questions.
Science this week took a mysterious turn! Using torches and objects from around the classroom we investigate how shadows were formed using our scientific language of transparent, translucent, and opaque. We had so much fun and cannot wait to finish our topic on ‘Mirror, Mirror’ next week!
Music was a hit again this week! We started the lesson by recapping rhythm, working hard to beat our drums at the same time allowing a clear sound. After, we began to learn a new song, The Avengers theme tune! It was quite tricky, but we persevered and had so much fun! Look on our twitter to see our rendition!
In RE, we continued with our topic ‘Jesus, the man who changed us’ focusing on how our lives have changed and could continue to change as well as investigate how Jesus’ disciples’ lives changed after they met him.
Mr Brindle from Formby High was back again this week with another exciting rounders lesson! We focused on catching and fielding, building on last week’s batting skills whilst playing yet again, another highly competitive game!
Reminders
- Tuesday 8th February is our class trip. Please can I remind all parents to send their children into school with a packed lunch in a disposable bag.
- PE days will continue to take place on a Wednesday and a Thursday.
- Please can I ask that when you read with your child at home, that it is recorded on the online reading journal on Google Classroom.

What another fantastic week of learning! Well done Year 3!
It is safe to say that the ‘Mad Scientist’ workshop was certainly a highlight of our week. The fun interactive session had us on the edge of our seats with exciting experiments reaffirming our passion for science. Thursday saw us mark Holocaust Memorial Day, an important and poignant date in our calendars, where we recognise and remember those who lost their lives as well as the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. To mark this, we created remembrance candles so that those who died, will never be forgotten.
We continued our narratives at the start of the week in English, recounting the adventures of Tom and Om from our story ‘The Stone Age Boy’. Later in the week we explored Stone Age cave paintings and imagined what the characters would be discussing as they investigated the painting and how they might feel. This allowed us to develop and apply our knowledge of inverted commas. Next week, we will reach a pivotal point in our story, allowing us to form a narrative using a range of features such as paragraphs, speech and prepositions, whilst expressing how the characters feel.
In Maths, we continued to focus on division, specifically dividing with remainder. We started the week by using related multiplication facts to help us solve a range of questions, Afterwards, we focused on numbers that could not be divided equally. We loved getting practical and using taught methods and a range of resources, we were able to identify question that left a reminder and questions that did not. Next week, we will finish off our topic of multiplication and division before moving onto money.
Rounders was an absolute hit this week and we cannot wait for next week. The children loved getting involved, working as a team, and using their skills to play some highly competitive games!
Mr Fogg was back this week to continue our drumming journey in Music. We started by recapping our skills from last week, practising our rhythm and tempo whilst also reading music. Before long the sound of the Djembe drums could be heard around the school!
In RE, we continued to unpick our topic ‘Jesus, the man who changed lives’. This week we looked at the ‘Story of Levi’ and compared him before and after he met Jesus. We were then given the question ‘Why did he change?’. This allowed us to dig deeper, creating a great discussion.
How could we forget Science? We had another exciting lesson this week which saw us investigate the meaning of reflection. Using a range of objects and a torch, and our STAR words ‘dull’ and ‘shiny’ we investigated which objects were the best at reflecting the light and which were the worst. This allowed us to draw the conclusion that shiny objects reflected light better than dull objects!
The wonderful ‘Starry Night’ by Vincent Van Gough was our primary focus in Art this week, specifically the way he used line, pressure, and colours to create the most wonderful landscape scenes. To develop our skills, we were each given just one part of the portrait, recreating each section in our art books using a range of mediums.
Reminders
- The Year 3 school trip will take place on the Tuesday 8th February.
- PE days will continue to take place on a Wednesday and a Thursday.
- Please can I ask that when you read with your child at home, that it is recorded on the online reading journal on Google Classroom.
Date: 21st Jan 2022 @ 4:56pm
Where has that week gone?
In English, we have continued to read and unpick our story ‘The Stone Age Boy’. At the start of the week we developed our writing skills with specific focus on using the present perfect tense. To do this, we had to travel back in time taking on the role of Tom and using drama to complete a range of activities from hunting, cooking and even tool making! We thought carefully about how were doing these actions compiling a list of adverbs to support our writing. Afterwards, we applied this to our writing, creating a diary entry focusing on writing in the present perfect tense. Later in the week, we learnt all about the different animals that lived during the Stone Age creating sentences using past and present tense depending on whether the species was extinct. We ended our week with yet more drama, selecting different scenes from the story and creating ‘Freeze Frames’ to depict the actions. Again, we discussed the different adverbs we could use to add more detail to our actions. This allowed us to begin to plan a narrative using our flow maps, selecting not only the actions taking place but how the characters might be feeling and what they might be saying. Next week, we will build on this creating our own narratives for the story using our knowledge from this week.
In Art, we continued to look at Vincent Van Gough, focusing on how he always reviewed, adapted and updated his work which allowed him to improve. We used the flowers from last week again, this time discussing how our tone and shading might change due to the flowers dying. Art is certainly a hit in Year 3, creating a calm and inspiring atmosphere.
In Spanish, we continued with our topic about fruit and learnt two new phases; ‘Me gustan..’ and ‘No me gustan..’ allowing us to formulate sentences in Spanish indicating whether we like or disliked certain fruit. It was a lot trickier than we thought but created a real buzz around the classroom!
In Maths, we used our multiplication knowledge to help us solve some tricky two-digit division questions. By self-selecting resources and using a variation of taught methods, we all took on the challenge. Next week, we will continue on our division journey and learn all about remainders.
What is darkness? This was our science question this week. With the lights off an the blinds shut we started to investigate this question in more detail. We learnt that without light, we simply cannot see. We dug deeper and connected our learning to RE, discussing how Jesus is the light of the world as he is there to support Christians when they find themselves in their darkest moments. We ended our lesson playing a very fun torch game!
PE was a hit again this week! The wonderful Mr Brindle from Formby High was back bringing all is enthusiasm and energy. This week we developed out precision and power dodgeball skills, working in teams to hit our opponents in an exciting lesson of ‘Walk the Line’. We cannot wait for him to return next week when we will start our new Kin-Ball lessons.
‘The Iron Man’ is still a massive hit in our Reading lessons and the extra copy in our library is creating a real buzz. We practiced our retrieval and inference skills this week finding answers within the text to help us answer comprehension questions.
This month's top book picks from 'Love Reading' have been released today. It shares exciting new story books from a variety of authors for different age ranges.
Year 3, you have been incredible! We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Where has that week gone? It certainly feels like its flown by here in Year 3.
On Monday, we had an unusual box delivered to our class containing a range of unusual items as well as having various pictures scattered around the classroom. We soon found out that it was connected to our new Writing topic and it was our job to predict what we could be learning about. In order for us to do this, we had to connect our learning back to last term and try to decide if the book was fiction or nonfiction and also where it was set. From the clues, we were able to decipher that the book was linked to the Stone Age but lots of us thought it could be non-fiction and full of facts. We were shocked to learn that it was in fact a story, and was about boy who goes on a mysterious adventure. Using only the front cover and the first page, we set about creating our own versions of the story imagining the perilous journey Ben might take with some suggestions of animal attacks! Afterwards, we explored the different settings from the first three pages, describing and comparing them using expanded noun phrases and comparative adjectives. Next week, we will continue our journey with Ben through role play and direct speech.
Our Reading sessions have been an absolute hit this week, as we continue to delve into the story 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. This week, we loved creating our own versions of Iron Man using the description from the book as well as adding in our own creative, imaginative features. We also focused on how people viewed the Iron Man in the story, reflecting, and imagining how our community would react if Iron Man came here. It certainly allowed for an interesting discussion!
In Maths, we have continued with our topic 'Multiplication and Division', using our knowledge of times tables, to complete related multiplication sentences. This came in handy when we started to investigate multiplication further, when we started to multiply two-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. We had to work hard, breaking down each question into smaller steps before combining them to solve the answer.
In PE, the wonderful Mr Brindley from Formby High school was back to take another action-packed Dodgeball lesson. We continued to develop our throwing and catching skills focusing specifically on accuracy, as well as learning about the importance of footwork skills. We also started Rounders, recapping the rules from Year 2 and exploring the different positions and their roles, all without a bat!
In RE, we started to look at our new topic ‘Jesus, the man who changed lives’ and started by looking the story of ‘Zacchaeus, the Tax Collector’. This story allowed for a great discussion, as were shocked that Jesus chose someone who was being so unkind and greedy. However, we decided that this was for the best as Jesus was able to help him correct his wrongs.
We finished the week with another exciting Art lesson. Continuing with our topic ‘Vincent Van Gough’, we explored how he used white and black to create tint and shade and how this changed depending on what he was painting. To understand this further, we sketched our own still life flowers before using watercolours to paint.
Reminders
- Please be reminded that our school trip is on the 8th February and the deadline for payments is next Tuesday.
- Please can I again remind parents that hair needs be tied back, especially for PE.
- -Sibling photographs take place on Tuesday 18th.

Happy New Year to you all!
We hope you all had a wonderful, restful break and enjoyed the Christmas festivities. We have had a busy start to our new term and have loved being back at school.
To celebrate Epiphany, the Christian feast day celebration, we reflected on the journey the Three Wise Men took to visit the baby Jesus. We used our globe to look at the possible, long journey they made as well as looking in depth at the various gifts they brought and their meanings. Afterwards, we imagine we were back with the Wise Men and thought of our own gifts to share.
In Reading, we were given two book reviews for our new story. We had to work together to work out what our story could be about. The reviews describe the story as being a 'science fiction fairy tale' so using our bubble thinking maps, we compared to two genres, deciding how they could be similar and different. Using clues from the book reviews and a series of picutures, we worked out that our book was about something from 'out of this world' and made of metal. We were delighted to learn that our new story is 'Iron Man'. On Thursday, we dived straight into it, unpicking some of the more interesting and complex language as well as how the author had repeated words and phrases to add affect.
We continued with Multiplication and Divison in Maths, ad spent time recalling our number knowledge surronding the 3,4,8 times tables and applied this to our work. Next week we will continue to unpick this topic, using our knowledge to solving missing number questions and related number facts.
We have loved PE this week, and have had great fun exploring one our new topics 'Dodgeball'. The brilliant Mr Brindley from Formby High School gave us a great introduction, teaching us different techniques in regards to catching, throwing and dodging the ball. Our dodging skills were certainly put to the test, dodging the villains and catching the saviour balls from the superheroes. We cannot wait for more dodgeball action next week!
In Art, we learnt about the wonderful artist 'Vincent Van Gough' and were shocked to discover that he created over 2000 art works before his death at 37! We delved deep into his art work, focusing specifically on his use of lines and how he used them to create texture and depth. Using acrylics, we had a o at creating our own art work using a range of different size lines to add detail. It was a lot trickier than it it looked, having a new found apprecation for the different paint techiques used in his art work.
It has been a joy to have the children back in class and we look forward to the fantastic term we have to come. For more information on what we will be learning about this term, please click here.
Have a wonderful weekend!

What a wonderful and jam packed final week we have had here in Year 3!
We started the week in the best way possible, with our final singing concerts in front of all our family and friends. The children were a credit to themselves, singing with pride and determination (even when the wrong song played) and we could not be prouder of you all.
On Tuesday, we donned our festive gear and took part in our Santa Dash, which was a huge success. We were delighted when Santa arrived to take us out and the starting line was bustling with anticipation, could they beat Miss Jones? Well the answer is a resounding yes, regardless of her cheating... Lots of laughs were had – adding to what had already been a great few weeks of Christmas cheer!
Christmas jumper day was another success, even though some jumpers were the wrong colour... we were delighted with everyones amazing effort. We loved getting crafty and creating our own jumpers, making Christmas cards for our loved ones and tucking into a festive lunch. The crackers were a hit and the party hats certainly brightened up our afternoon.
Christmas Party Day was a particular highlight of the week. We loved completing a range of festive and fun party games, especially charades which proved harder than we all thought, especially the not talking part. Musical chairs, pass the parcel and pin the nose on ruldoph were also hits and brought out everyones competative nature. We also loved teaming up with Year 4 for a festive game of hide and seek.
On Friday, we were welcomed into St. Peter’s for their Christmas service - singing hymns and saying prayers altogether. We would like to say a huge well done to Year 4 for their fantastic redition of the Nativity. We loved being part of this festive service. The pressure is certainly on for our Easter service.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our acedmic year thus far, and cannot wait to see what Spring Term brings. Our virtual classroom is also attached below, which contains handy links to lots of learning platforms that can be used to further support your child’s learning. Please be reminded of our new PE days which were shared via school spider. Year 3 will now have PE on Tuesday and Wednesday.

What a wonderful start to Year 3! It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome the children back to school after what appears to be, a fun filled summer holiday!
We have had a busy week filled with excitement and intrigue! We have been tasked by Russel and Carl, from UP, to help them by completing a series of tasks. Our first task focused round the words ‘kindness and support’ linking to our school value, Nurture. We recalled times where we had been kind and supportive and how this, lifts people up, reflecting on times where we may have been unhelpful, which could weigh us down, throwing the later away and letting go.
We then focused on setting ourselves targets and challenges for the year, we talked about how in order to achieve them, we must work hard to adapt and develop our ‘I can do it’ attitude and resilience. I wonder what challenges lie ahead for us next week!
From Monday 6th, children will be sent home with a reading book according to their reading day.
A gentle reminder that children need to come into school dressed in their outdoor PE kit every Wednesday and Friday.
Children have now been set up on their new interactive platform, ‘Google Classroom’ and logins have now been sent home. Please ensure that your child is confident logging on and navigating the site. We will use this platform regularly in class to support their learning. Please note that work set on Google Classroom is to be complete in class and not to be completed at home.
Weekly spellings will be shared on Google Classroom, every Friday. This allows children time to practice their spellings at home, and in school, in preparation for our spelling quiz which will take place the following Thursday. This will start next week.
Well done for all your hard work this week Year 3, have a lovely weekend and I will see you all on bright and early on Monday! Don’t forget to check us out on Twitter.
Date: 26th Mar 2021 @ 1:37pm
The Spring term has flown by! Well done to all the children for their consistent hard work and determination over the past few months. They have embraced new learning opportunities with enthusiasm and resilience.
This week, in Maths, we continued our topic of measurement by adding and subtracting different lengths in millimetres, centimetres and meters. We also learnt how to calculate the perimeter of shapes.
In RE, we retold the Easter story and created a flow map to sequence the events. We also learnt about the different symbols of Easter and what they represent. We then enjoyed some tasty hot cross buns!
In Collective Worship, we went on a virtual Easter journey led by the B-Tales. We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the interactive activities and creating our own crosses to carry with us.

To conclude our Easter festivities, we created our own Easter baskets and went on a special Easter egg hunt! We showed some excellent team work as we worked together to solve the addition and subtraction word problems to win the chocolate eggs!
