They say time flies when you are having fun and hasn’t it done just that! It has come to the end of the Autumn 1 term in Year 4 and we are full of memories from the amazing learning opportunties we have had this term.

Take a look at some of our highlights from the term:

- Hello Yellow Day helped us to share positivity to one and other.

- The Dogs Trust educated us on how to care for our pets safely at home.

- We filled out Author Book with the most amazing piece of story writing inspired by the story 'Gorilla'.

- Our fitness has hugely developed through the completion of our weekly fitness tests.

- We have made a splash in the pool in our Swimming lessons!

- Learning about the importance of print and shading in Art.

- In Science, we discovered how to group and classify living things.

- The USA has been in our sights in Geography, as we travelled across the 50 states.

- We took a stunning Autumn walk to the village, taking in the delights this beautiful seasons provides.

- Liverpool Cathedral have continued to enlighten us with the wonders of song each Tuesday morning.

The Year 4 Virtual Classroom is also attached with a wealth of links and our Autumn 2 term English read to keep the children busy at home, should they wish to carry out any additional home learning.

Reminders:

  • A reminder that every Wednesday, Year 4 will log the spellings they personally feel they need to work on following our spelling lessons so far that week. If your child has not got their blue RWI spelling log book from Year 3, they have been provided with a red book to record their spellings in. Log books then go home on Wednesday for the children to spend the rest of the week learning the words they have selected to focus on. Log books should then be returned to school the following week, ready to record new spellings to focus on.
  • PE lessons will continue on a Tuesday and Wednesday (swimming) next half-term.
  • A small, healthy snack should be brought to school if needed.
  • Recorders will continue every Monday. Children should continue to bring their recorder to school for their lesson.

We have had a wonderful start to Year 1. During Collective Worship, we focused on Dignity, Respect and Generosity and how we can show all these values in everyday life. We are really proud of how all the children have adapted to Year 1, and how well they have settled into KS1.

Other highlights include:

  • Exploring a range of texts such as; 'Don't hug Doug!', 'The Stickman', 'Room on the Broom' and 'The Gruffalo' to name a few! We have loved reading them together and re-enacting them in our small world.
  • Developing our sending and recieving skills in PE as well as practising our jumping, hoping and skipping!
  • Tasting food, learning dances and investigating the culture of the 4 countries in the United Kingdom, did you know that the national animal of Scotland is a unicorn?
  • Making a Sukkot and having hot chocolates in it as part of our Harvest topic.
  • Making flowers for others as part of Hello Yellow Day.
  • Creating some incredible artwork by drawing from observations!

That time has come. The end of our Year 5 learning journey. What a time we have had and it has truly been a pleasure to have taught this class throughout this academic year! They have brought so much laughter, creativity, hard-work and kindness, with so many moments that will live long in the memory. Thank you, Year 5! While the summer holidays await, there are just a few more things to first say…

Firstly, thank you for being such excellent babysitters when Myla visited. She loved her time in the class and this is because you were all so nurturing and lovely to her. This led to lots of smiles on her part (and mine) and it was a really proud moment to have introduced you all. Mrs Moran echoes the same feelings about Cole and how mucy he enjoyed his visit too.

Please also accept a heartfelt thank you for the kind messages, cards and gifts that have been gratefully received this week. They are never expected but meant a lot. Thank you.

All that is left to do now is to wish you all an absolutely brilliant summer break! I hope the sun shines as much as you all have throughout this year. Make the most it; create some memories with your family and friends and stay safe.

Over and out, Year 5!

Year 1 - Summer 2 - Week 7

We are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved this year. It has been an absolute pleasure to spend this year with such positive, hardworking and enthusiastic pupils. You have all demonstrated such determination in your learning and have truly enjoyed each day in Year 1.

A huge thank you to all of our parents for such amazing support throughout this year. I hope you all have a brilliant summer and enjoy lots of well-deserved rest. I look forward to seeing you all again in September for another incredible year.

Well...the day has finally arrived! Today, we said our final goodbyes and finished our time here at Trinity St. Peter's.

On Monday and Tuesday, we were able to perform our leavers' production for the rest of the school and our families. There was laughter, tears, but most of all...enjoyment. The script was written by the class and included all the memories, jokes and stories they wanted to reminisce about with their audiences. The children shone in every sense: their acting was superb, their comedy timing was impeccable and their singing was just beautiful. We were all so incredibly proud of them.

We concluded our week with our Leavers' Service on Friday morning. This was perhaps more emotional than our leavers’ production with a special dance, presentations, montages, speeches and one final opportunity for our pupils to show off their incredible voices. There was not a dry eye in Holy Trinity Church!

There is not much left to write that has not already been said in class, at the production or in Church! Nevertheless, Year 6, you have been A-MAZ-ING. We have loved teaching you and watching you all grow as individuals and as a class. Bonds have been made for life and we can't wait to see you go onto achieve even more success and happiness in your secondary schools. We will miss you all.

Parents, we would like to thank you for the gifts and cards this week - never expected but always appreciated - and most of all, for your kind words. Your continued support has allowed the children to continue to thrive at Trinity St. Peter's in their final year.

Have an amazing summer, everyone!

We cannot believe it is our last full week in Reception!

This week, the children have been practicing for their final WOW service at St Peter’s church. The children are so excited to share all their special memories from their time in Reception.

On Tuesday, we had a very exciting visit from Active Sefton. Jay came in to talk to the children about the importance of keeping our bodies healthy and we discussed good food choices. Jay then demonstrated how to make a strawberry and banana smoothie and we all got a taste. It was delicious! Thank you so much for a lovely session.

We have also enjoyed thinking about what our favourite activities were throughout this year. The children came up with a list of five things they would like to do before the end of the year. We can’t wait for lots of fun next week!

The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:

  • You can join at Formby Library and take part in person. The librarian will give you a collector folder, stickers, and other special rewards, and help you find books to read.
  • Or, take part online by signing up here. Set a reading goal and log your books on your profile. When you reach your goal, you will unlock a virtual badge and certificate. Link: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/join-in

Year 4 - Summer 2 - Week 6

Date: 10th Jul 2024 @ 7:39am

biscuit.png

As our penultimate week comes to an end, we look back on some highlights from the week.

In recognition of our Collective Worship value, we outlined the responsibilities we will grow into as we ger older and those responsibilities we will need to take on to stay safe and healthy. In RE, we reflected on all our learning this half term and concluded with a prayer to summarise our wishes and hopes for the summer break.

In English, we were inspired by Neil Gaiman’s instruction writing that navigated a journey around his Fairyland Forest. We decided to design our own enchanted woods and use command sentences to instruct our reader on the path they should take to safely venture around of mysterious lands.

Using maps, compasses and directional language, we discovered the main attractions located around St. James Park in London and used the grid references to outline where they were located. We then moved onto listening to given directions in order to draw a given image on a grid in the right location, correctly identifying whether the image should go above, below, to the left or right on the gird.

After visiting the boardroom to pitch our unique biscuit designs, our recipe was finalised and our new biscuit creations were made. Fantastically named, our Chocmellow Delights were not only tasty but looked delightful too!

We are so grateful to the wonderful Liverpool Cathedral for the incredible singing sessions they have delivered over the year. We have learnt so many joyful and meaningful songs that we had the pleasure of performing to our parents this week. We look forward to working with Mr Gordon again in September and hope our parents enjoyed the show as much as we did!

The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:

We are looking forward to spending one last week together… even if we will shed a tear or two as we say our goodbyes! See you Monday, Year 4!

And just like that, our journey has come to an end!

We have had another incredible year together full of laughter and joy. You should all be very proud of what you have achieved, showing true grit and determination.

It has been truly a pleasure to teach you over the past two years and I have loved watching you grow into the funny, confident children that you are. I know that you will continue to shine as you move into Year 3 and as you progress through the school.

To the parents, we would like to say a massive thank you for your support over the past year and also for beautiful gifts you have given us. You have been incredibly kind and generous and we are extremely grateful.

From all of us here in Year 2, have the best summer and we will see you in September!

We hope you enjoyed reading the children’s end of year reports last week!

We can’t quite believe we’re here but the final full school week of Year 5 is now complete. Just four and a half more school days left of this academic year to go…we’ll be sure to make the most of them! For now, here are some highlights from this week…

In English, the children proudly completed their buddy letters! Their letters were so thoughtfully written and contained a wealth of information that covered the role of a buddy; information about our amazing school and also some more information about themselves too. We hope that the families of our buddies enjoy reading them on their child’s first day in September as much as we enjoyed writing them!

We also have been transported back in time to the fascinating Victorian era! Through research and different hands-on activities, the children have delved into the rich history and culture of the 19th century. We explored the daily lives of Victorian children, comparing their education, chores, and leisure activities with those of today. One highlight of our learning has been the exploration of Victorian inventions and their lasting legacy. The children were amazed to discover that many everyday items we take for granted were first invented during this time. We also enjoyed watching part of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, which paid homage to the Industrial Revolution through its representation of the idyllic British countryside being transformed into a bustling industrial landscape.

Another highlight of this week was the opportunity for the children to visit our Nursery classroom on Thursday to meet some of their buddies when they move up to Year 6. It was heartwarming to watch them play and interact with the younger children, creating a truly wholesome and memorable experience for everyone involved!

The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Year 1 - Summer 2 - Week 6

Date: 9th Jul 2024 @ 8:00am

Well done on another wonderful week Year 1, one more week to go! We cannot believe how quick this term has gone, we are getting very excited for our fantastic summer plans.

This week in Maths we continued our topic 'Time', focusing on hours minutes and seconds. We shared all of our prior knowledge and discussed what type of activities would take us seconds, minutes and hours. We then had a go at telling the time by the half hour and by the hour. We used various types of practical resources to support our understanding of the hands on a clock and what they mean.

In RE we explored the second part of the story of 'Joseph'. We have been anticipating what might happen next in Joseph's journey, and were fascinated by his time in Egypt.

Our highlight this week has been making our very own smoothies during the smoothie workshop, we put all of our DT knowledge into practice by selecting our favourite fruits, and blending them to create our own delicious smoothie.

The children recently enjoyed a visit from Josh from Formby Library who shared all the exciting details about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. There are two ways you can take part in the Summer Reading Challenge:

We can not believe we are approaching our final weeks!

We have enjoyed re-capping phonics sounds already learnt and then learning the new sound ‘k’. For Maths, we have enjoyed using the Maths images to promote reasoning and discussion skills to explore numbers to 10. We have enjoyed ordering numbers and looking at pictorial representations as well as numbers and words.
Thinking about transition to our next class or new school, we have spent the week exploring different feelings and giving the children the time to talk about and ask questions about this next step. The children have asked some great questions and we hope they are starting to feel excited.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to our final week before the summer term.
